I am switching out handguards on my M&P 10, and going with a low profile rail so I purchased a troy MRF rail and troy low profile gas block. The pin doesn't easily tap out of the S&W gas block. So rather than damaging the original tube or gas block I thought I would just leave it together in case I ever want the rifle to return to the original state and buy a new gas tube and pin for the Troy low profile gas block. I call S&W and the CS rep explains they don't sell these parts. I asked him about sourcing something that will work. He stated he believed the DPMS AR-10 gas tube and pin should work. Can anyone confirm this, and if so what length tube and where to buy? Thanks for the help.

Mid length gas tube is what I'm guessing. Just curious if anyone knows whether the DPMS one will work if not what else to try. For the record I did try driving the gas tube pin from right to left without any luck.

You have to use a 5/32 drill bit or punch to get it out. Since the drill bits at that size usually come in pairs when you buy them at home depot you get a spare.

I used such a drill bit for mine took like a mine to knock it out

For the gas block, no idea - I re-used the factory stuff but any mid-length tube should work.

From what I have read, the M&P10 gas tube is proprietary and a quarter inch longer than a standard ar mid length gas tube. I wasn't able to get my tube out of the stock gas block when I went to put a low profile block on. I ordered a standard tube and put it on in it's place. When i went to the range I experienced short stroking. I have read where people haven't had issues though. I called Smith CS and was able to order the proprietary tube. But it is currently on back order and cost 34 bucks shipped.

Yes from what I can tell it is close to 1/4" longer and was told it was proprietary too. When I called S&W customer service I was told this is not a part that I can order. He said "we don't even have a price for it". Do you happen to have a part number? If so maybe I could try again with the number and hopefully a different CS rep.

Looks like 5/64 bit will work. 5/32 would get into the gas block. Thanks for your advise. I may have to give this a try.
