scope mounting problem
I mounted scope on my new MP10 and found that the elevation would not come up enough to zero the scope. Then I tried a different scope with different rings and same thing...the scope would not dial in enough elevation. Its as if the integral picatinny rail has too much elevation. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

What kind of mounts are you using?
If they are two piece, switch the front to back. If they are one piece, try another mount. If the problem stays the same with a different mount, contact S&W.

If it is a single piece mount, turn it around. Some single piece mounts have additional elevation built in (Nikon M-308 single piece scope mount has 20 MOA built into it) so direction matters.

wheeler bore sighter
Hey guys. when I went to the range to see just how elevated the scope was I found it was shooting very high...as per the max elevation. Once I got on paper the proper elevation was approximately the middle of the scope elev. adjustment range. I bore sighted using the Wheeler Engineering laser bore sight. The tool has a magnet that holds it to the muzzle and a green laser. The instructions show how to measure the angle based on the height of scope center above height of bore. Target at 25yds. I did it at about 15yds, exceeding the elevation range of 2 scopes and 2 different ring sets. Next time at the range I am going to use the Wheeler and see if at 25yds it is closer. If not I obviously have a defective unit. There is no provision on the unit for laser focus/alignment. BTW, the green laser is easy to see even in bright sunlight. I am very pleased with function and accuracy of the rifle out of the box. Digested several types of ammo...super cheap to match grade, ejecting all cases into a 2 foot circle.

You can get the M-308 with either single piece mount. Mine (MSR it's on) took the regular and I bought the 20 built in just in case.

Bore sighting is only approximate. When Bore sighting any AR it is even worse then a typical hunting rifle because the optic is much higher then the barrel.
With that being said 15 or 25yrds is way too close to sight in this firearm. I wouldn't start any closer then 50yrds. Ideally 100yds. would be best.

The problem with the wheeler is it demands a perfectly square muzzle face to be accurate.
