I just bought an M&P 10, and wanted to put a 2 piece quad rail on it. I picked one up from my LGS, but it doesn't fit. After doing some research, it seems a simple drop in quad isn't so simple. I was hoping to avoid changing the gas block in order to add the rail. Any suggestions? All help is appreciated!

2 piece quad rail by UTG

In case anyone is interested, I was able to find and install a 2-piece quad rail made by UTG on my M&P 10. Haven't added my bipod yet, as I'm still waiting on an adaptor from Versa Pod.

Installation was simple easy-5 minutes with the use of a delta ring tool. Haven't fired it yet with the quad rail, as I'm waiting on by Versa Pod adaptor and Ghost Protocol muzzle brake.

UTG is junk and are often out of spec. They used to be made in China but some are now made here. It was an air soft product that found its way into mainstream gun culture

This one was made in the USA, so I guess that is something. It went on seamlessly, but will obviously now test it with skepticism. Any recommendations on a 2-piece quad that isn't junk? That's why I made my original post, but no one responded.

I have 1500 rds through mine with the utg pro (usa made) and have no issues with it......the people who call this junk work for the companies ripping you off for 200-300 bucks for another rebadged chinese quadrail.

Do you guys think that ripping on a man's purchase makes this forum a better or worse place to hang out? It's already dead enough in this area, seems a shame to make it worse by treating people and their purchases the way some do.

Nothing wrong with that if it floats your boat. I find the basic Magpul easier on the hands myself.

UTG makes a darn nice tac. bi-pod that clamps on a rail with no adapter and has a QR. aBOUT $40. and it is tough!

Untill I do a free float thing on the Big 10, the Magpul or anything else will work, but I will tell you I just put a full length free float small tube on my AR and this thing is like Sex on Wheels! Put a 2in rail on the bottom if needed, add one for a light. Wicked rifle length feel and cannot wait to shoot it!

There will always be people who make stupid posts just because they have nothing better to do. I'm old enough to know the difference between useful information and bull****. I read reviews from multiple sites and multiple people. They ALL said the same thing..they were happy with their purchase, and the rail functions as advertised. That is more useful to me than 1 person who hasn't even owned or used something and then saying it's **** because of something they may have heard and then parroting the comment. Some folks are just incapable of independent thought...

Anyway, seemed to me there was a lack of options regarding non-free float rail options, so I shared my purchase and pic. Hope it helps some of you who might be in the same boat. After all of this, no one has mentioned another 2-piece quad rail option. Leads me to believe the UTG rail might be the only readily available rail option for us if we are trying to avoid changing or moving the gas block.

Its been a few years so maybe they've changed. But UTG was junk. Used to be anytime I played airsoft somebody would have a part from UTG that failed dramatically.

I bought the Leaper's UTG 2pc quadrail for my AR15.It's made in the USA in hard anodized aluminum.I bought it for it's quality and 360 degree availability for any and all options. You would think it was the factory handguard.

If UTG was an inferior product at one time then say that and also which product you didn't like otherwise keep your derogatory comments to yourself.I've had the same issue with others about scopes where their opinions had nothing to do with them having any actual hands on experience with said product.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but not their own facts!

This is my AR15 setup. It's solid as a rock.

There were no derogatory comments towards the OP. Just because he made a purchase doesn't make the product good. I know if I bought junk not knowing I would like someone to tell me instead of saying good for you enjoy! This doesn't mean he's stupid or something, I'm not trying to insult him. He asked why it wasn't working properly and the reason is the company. Or should I have said oh its awesome stuff, top of the line, hard to imagine why it wouldn't work?

I personally threw away several UTG rails because they were all out of spec. One just plain didn't fit despite being made for my rifle. One had the rails milled on a slight angle, One broke when dropped on garage floor. It broke in half practically, like pot metal. I'm not the only one who had these problems.

However, from now on.....regardless of what it is my opinion is that it's a great product and one of those undercovered products that are At a low price because no one knows about it.

I believe a few of the folks with a dislike for UTG products were well-intentioned and trying to inform me I might of made a poor decision when I bought my quad rail. I appreciate their input, even if it might not be what I, or others who own the same rail, want to hear or agree with. I'm on this site to learn from others with more experience, and help others with less. This is a new gun to me, even though I own another AR and many other weapons. I'm sure there is much to learn about it, which is part of the fun for me. Thanks everyone for your input.

Here is a pic of my M&P 10 with the UTG quad rail and T-Pod by Mako Group. Took it off of my AR 15 so I could put 60 rounds through it. Happy to report quad rail and shoulder both withstood the pounding...new muzzle brake can't get here fast enough, though!!IMG_1875.jpg

I had the UTG drop-in quad rail on my M&P for five or six months until I was ready to swap it out for a free floated Midwest Industries keymod hand guard. My UTG was fine. It went together perfectly and locked up nice and tight. The rails were straight and everything was in-spec. My decision to swap it out had nothing to do with its quality or function.

If you're looking to save some money and need the rail space a drop-in solution can work well. Ultimately, though, a free-float hand guard is my preferred solution.

Just my experience and $0.02.

Damage Industries as a mid-length quad available, it even says on their website that it fits the M&P10. I started out with it so that I could get rid of the original plastic hand guard.

At this point I'm looking to change, I've ordered a 9" Lite Rail from Daniel Defense. With the barrel of the M&P 10 being so thin I think my drop in quad is affecting accuracy.

https://danieldefense.com/rail-systems.html

***Note*** the DD free float barrel I've ordered does NOT match up perfectly with the upper, there is a slight height difference which makes no matter to me. I intend to use the factory gas block and mount my 45 degree iron sight to it like God intended;) Not a big fan putting irons on quad rails, I don't care how stable they are its not the same as putting a sight on the barrel. Also, using the 9" quad rail from DD allows you to use the original gas tube, there's no need to have to search for a new gas tube or gas block. Just be sure to get a DPMS barrel nut meant for 308LR and you'll be good.

Hope you find this helpful and accurate.

Cheers
