Just picked up one of these with a Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44 for $900. Feel like I got a good deal. Previous owner says it only has 20 rnds down the pipe. That looks to be true, gun looks new inside and out. It is the 18" barrel without flash hider, just straight barrel.
I already have an Armalite AR-10 A2 that I have had for about 19 years. I was pleasantly surprised how much lighter and more compact this M&P is over the Armalite. Although, I would have prefered a slightly longer barrel to get more velocity.
What should I expect from this gun with accuracy? I noticed it has a 1:10 twist and most of the reviews I have seen tested a lot of 150 grain ammo. I would think the 1:10 would work better with 168 or 175 grain. What is you guys experience with bullet weight?
I have a M&P15 sport that pleasantly surprised me with it's accuracy, in the 1/2 to 3/4 MOA with my hand loads consistently. I hope the 15 didn't set my bar to high...
I have seen some post discussing "short stroking" and feeding issues. Is that a common problem, or just a handful of folks with issues? Maybe they were using light ammo?
Thanks,
Rosewood
