Ambi Parts Delete
I just got a 6.5 Creedmoor M&P10 and with the Muzzle Brake, it seems like a winner for a common rifle for me and the wife. It shoots great but just a couple of things. We didn't like the ambi stuff for the "Fire Selector" and the "Bolt Release". I took care of the "Fire Selector" so no worries. Everything works as it should. The "Bolt Release" If I take out the right side one, it leaves a gaping hole and I am paranoid of something getting caught up there. Is there a cover plate or something we can use to seal up the hole till someday I decide to reinstall it or am I forced to put the Right side release back? TIA

I'm away from mine at the moment but I'd think some sort of a rubber grommet may work.

Let me know. I just shot it today with no issues but the gap does bother me. Yes, I know, nothing should go in there, what are the odds. Pretty good until something does and screws it up is the usual answer.

Aklim, having a good look at mine I suppose if one is talented enough you could carve or fashion one from rubber or plastic. You could use the existing pin to keep this make shift plug in place. In normal target or hunting situations I don't forsee any problems but muddy and dusty environments may pose a long-term problem. Sorry for being so long to reply.

Cut out a small circular piece of tape and call it good. Replace as necessary. You are more likely to get some foreign object in the opened action than in that small hole.

Removing the ambi safety I can understand, but the bolt release? I don't get that issue.
