Default P223

I've been waiting for my P223 3x32 since the beginning of April I am about ready to just get the P223 3-9x40 that is sitting at my LGS. Anyone have one?

I have the 3-9x40 P223 on my AR and love it. Clear optics and very well made. Some people have complained that they can't see the circles but I have no problem with them. I think they just didn't know how to adjust the focus. Go to the store, take one out of the box, and look through it. Play with the focus and the zoom. You'll probably be sold at that point. They were having a $30 mail-in rebate when I bought mine a few weeks ago; it may still be going on.

Ral2000 & rtquig,

Have you looked locally? Do you have a Dick's Sporting Goods in your area? I got mine there for $199 ($169 after the rebate) which was the same as Cabela's internet price.

Mine is two weeks away, just like the week after it was ordered and the beginning of June and the middle of July I am sure the day I buy the 3-9x40 the 3x32s will come in. Great deal from Planet Optics $149 including rings but it is getting close to 1/2 a year!

Thanks 427 the 3-9s are around, my LGS has a couple sitting on the shelf even as we speak er type. The more compact 3x32s seem to be MIA

I feel your pain. I've been waiting as well, and I do freelance work for Nikon! No special favors there. Anyway, I here some will be showing up in the next 3 weeks along with the new for 1012, M-308. I hope this helps your time table. Just so you know, I have heard nothing but great things about the P-223 3-9. I believe there's a rebate on this scope right now as well, if you buy from an Authorized dealer. Hope this helps?

I'm patient and can wait, it took me 3 months to decide to buy it so another month is not a big deal. At $139 with a $30 Nikon rebate I'll wait.

I have the P223 in 3-9 and love it. As stated in an earlier post, very clear optics and easy to adjust.

I was in the same situation waiting it for the 3X32 to come in at OpticsPlanet. I finally canceled the order and went with the 3-9X40...no regrets at all, I love it!

I called Cabela's today to ask where my P223 3X32 scope was since I was told it would be in on Aug. 8th then Aug. 15th. I was told it was now expected on Sept.15. The customer service rep then said to let her see if they had one in a store. As it turns out, they had one in Idaho and can ship it out to me. ***, if they have them in a store you would think they could sent it to someone that has been waiting on backorder for a couple of months. Still, I think customer service was great to find me one and get it to me.

Thanks for the info, I was at Dicks today getting some shotgun ammo and they didn't have the Nikon in stock.

My P-223 3-9X40 BDC 600 will be here next week.
I got the last one they had from Digital Oasis @$162 delivered, see: NIK P-223 3-9X40 BDC 600 MATTE

I did have one on order from Optics Planet, but their projected delivery ran very close to the Oct 6 end of the $30 Nikon rebate ..... so that sent me looking.
Once I saw the price at Digital Oasis I cancelled with Optics Planet (which is selling them for $189).

I also bought the 'Spot On' app for my Xoom Droid pad, and for my iPod Touch (it's $5 for either).
The app runs better on my iPod Touch.
On the droid it hangs when I click on the 'Field Chart' button, but that function works perfect on my iPod Touch. ????

For those that might not be familiar with this feature ....... the real special thing about the Nikon scopes with either BDC or Nikoplex reticles, is unquestionably the flexibility that's provided by the Nikon Spot On program!!

Not only are the P-233 scopes pre-set for the external ballistics of the 5.56 55 grain bullet ...... Spot On can make the reticles usable for almost any other round ...... including rim fire, shot gun and hand loads!!
This is something that all rifle scopes will have in the future.

This program can be downloaded for free from the Nikon hunting site.
It's free for PCs, and runs off the 'net.
You just need to register there and then you can have access to it.

Once you play with it ..... I think you'll see just how really cool it is.

On Edit: Here's the link to the Nikon Spot On program ..... Nikon Hunting

Flyer, You are so right! Nikon's Spot On Ballistic Program allows the user so much more flexibility with whatever BDC scope is chosen and for whatever application. I've swapped out all of my crosshair reticles except one which I plan to put a Custom Turret on for Nikon's BDC Reticle Scopes.
I have friends who have taken some long range shot's with this scope, mine is 427 yards and it was a clean one shot stop. As always, practice increases your chances for a successful shot considerably.

Hi Bart!

Today I went ahead and also ordered the M-223 2.5-10X40 laser IRT scope.
It's coming 2 day FedEX from 4Scopes, so it'll get here before my P-223.
There's not a lot of info out there on this scope, and yours was about the only 'comprehensive' review I've read regarding it.

I have a Nikon Laser Rangefinder (an older 440) but wanted the ease of use that the IRT brings to the table.

But yeah ......... 'Spot On' is a huge deal!
Running on a smart phone or compatible PDA .......... it kinda makes that second team member redundant.

Flyer, You are gonna love Nikon's M-223 2.5-10 Laser IRT BDC 600. Now that's a mouthful. I had the pleasure of putting 2000 rounds under this scope the summer of 2011 and it was a blast to shoot. I had 100,150,200 yards and I would put a couple of rounds in one, move tothe next and so on. The Ranging capabilities for panning worked great. I used this scope for 1000 rounds of .223 and 1000 rounds of .308. I got the barrel so hot while shooting the .308 that I melted part of my rest to it. Certainly was a relief knowing the scope and electronics could handle the 105 deg. Tx heat and all those rounds. Guy's I have talked to that own this scope love it! The only thing I was unhappy about was that I had to return the scope when I was done with it!
Here's a pic of it mounted on a DPMS Oracle that they loaned me for the shooting. Both in .223 and .308, very accurate and not one FTF or misfire during all the shooting.

Bart, yup ... that's the info that was in your review that I read after goggling the scope.
I think it was on O.P.'s site, but I'm not sure.
It certainly helped to make my mind up, and thanks for posting it!!

Melted the bag indeed!!!

We get pretty hot out here in the central Ca. Sierras (I'm about 25 miles outside of the south entrance to Yosemite).
But when it goes much over the century mark I try to stay at home ......... with little cold 'bottled' friends.

In any case ...... the IRT should be here tomorrow, and the P-223 the next day.

And once again folks ........ for those of you that haven't played with it .... the magic behind these scopes is the 'Spot On' program.
Do yourselves a favor and go play with it!!
It's free right here Nikon Hunting.

So glad I could help! Yea, I wasn't to thrilled about shooting that 105 deg. June day but that was part of the test, that and to see if it would kill me. Lucky my son helped out big time shooting the .223's, he got tired quickly blasting .308's down range. By the way, M-308 4-16 BDC/Rapid Action Turret 800 should be here in less then 2 weeks!
Keep me posted on what you think of Laser IRT, I still want one for my LR-308!

Will do Bart ........ and I'll keep my eyes peeled for that "RAT 800" (heck ....... that just has a "go out'n get 'em" sound to it!! ).
