I decided to replace the Magpul MOE Handguard on my M&P with the 7" Troy MRF-C version (Free Float, NOT the drop in).
First off, this was advertised at Amazon and other places at 200 bucks plus even though it doesn't list for that much. Lots of places were out of stock including Troy's own webstore.
Primary Arms had it for 165 which is only a bit higher than the drop in version. I have found them great to deal with, ordered last friday and had it this morning. Priority mail, over a weekend. Post office must be getting competitive, LOL.
Installation requires removing the handguard and cutting the delta ring off , then removing the springs under it with pliers and finally removing the snap ring. Simple to do with a dremmel cutting wheel. Just wrap an old towel around the bbl. and upper and tape them in place, leaving only the delta ring visible. Carefully cut it in two places, pop it off and install the quadrail with five screws and the clamp that reinforces the bbl. nut. Simple, fast and this thing looks beautiful. True free float and the delta ring area is covered for a straight , continuous look with the upper and top rail.
Beautifully made, everything fit perfectly and truly easy to do. Avoids front sight or gas block removal.
Yeah, a bit more work than a Daniel Defense Omega which keeps the Dring but about seventy bucks less and the quality will stand up to anything out there IMHO.
Definitely recommend this to anyone considering a high end drop in. Not much more work and you have the FF rail instead of fixed. Nice.
