So has anyone put a A2 style carry handle on their M&P 15 sport yet? I like the rear sight it came with but prefer the look of a carry handle on a rifle with a fixed front sight. Any suggestions?

Sure you can put one on there. I don't think they are very expensive, and you can easily attach or remove the handle from the top rail of the receiver.

AR15 carry handle/rear sights, they are everywhere, and cost depends, varys quite a bit. M&P Sport has a std rail, so all of these should work:

Bravo Co - $109
AR-15 Carry Handle BCM

Weaver - $67
47383 - AR-15 Carry Handle Black Weaver Fits on AR-15 and M4 Upper Receiver Rail

Doublestar
56370 - DoubleStar AR-15 Detachable Carry Handle for Flat Top Uppers MIL-SPEC A2 Rear Sight Black Metal

UTG - $40
ARR-119 - AR-15 Carry Handle w/A2 Rear Sight Black UTG Complete Assembly Fits on Flat Top Upper Receivers

I'm sure there's a few hundred more out there:). I've used none of these so can't comment on any.

Thanks for the replys guys. I know they will mount to it since its a standard picatinny rail but I was more wondering if anybody had used one and how well it worked since the front sights are not standard height. I am new to the world of AR's but if I'm not mistaken... The front sights on the sport are f marked which I think means they are shorter for a flat top... most carry handles are for the taller A2 front sight. Am i correct?

Oh and so far I love this rifle... Have only put 100 rounds thru it so far but no malfs and accurate is a understatement. And now my 15-22 has a playmate.

I just bought a GMG carry handle for $26.95 at ammunitiontogo.com. Seems well built and like the OP I like a carry handle on my AR.

An F marked front sight base and flat top carry handle are a perfect pairing. I shot my new AR build today with exactly this setup and only had to adjust the front sight two clicks from mechanical zero to achieve a standard 25 meter zero.

Dude,
My 15/22 is awaiting his playmate. Thanks for asking the question, when mine arrives I'm going for the retro A2 look, i.e., carry handle (may go fix stock). Can you post if you pull the trigger on a handle purchase. Interested to know how new sight combo works out. I intend to put a scope on the handle, and maybe use it on either rifle. Bionic

I know this is an old thread, but FYI I have one on my M&P Sport and love it so much it's on the rail with aircraft fasteners instead of knobs. It's a nice clean installation and it works well with a KNS mid size ball front sight post. I picked it up online from Acid Tactical for $21 and while it isn't the high end version it fits tight, is milspec height to match the F marked front sight base, clicks out positive, isn't topped with a canted sight like a lot of the ones you see, and even matches the rifle's color. I did the IBZ mod on it and all went perfectly. As a troll disclaimer, I don't use the rifle for wargames or tactical sims, I'm not going to pay a ridiculous amount of money for an aluminum forging. and my pet M&P is bone stock except for Magpul and UAG furniture. My eyes are the only lensed optics I use, so the carry handle sight makes sense to me as the configuration offers protection for the sight and is also less of a snag magnet than a squared off protrusion sticking up out of a rail which, by the way, uglies up the AR pattern (to my eyes, at least) like nothing else. The batteries never go dead, either.

PS Before the Tacticoolians break out the torches and pitchforks, I don't mean to ridicule the hardware set-to each his own. If I did, however, turnabout would be fair play. Can't remember how many times I've gotten the stink eye from range rats who ask me why I don't just shell out the price of another rifle for the latest Whizbang Armory Nuclear Tipped Self Organizing Multioptical Enabler (also known by the acronym WANTSOME). So it goes...

UPDATE: picked up a BAFE handle today-even better!
