I'm new to AR platfrom rifles and i just bought a new M&P 15 sport, but it is the Connecticut model with no muzzle device or collapsible stock. I brought the rifle over to a friend of mine who is a machinist because i want to put a Troy muzzle brake on it. In order to get it on the lathe to thread it we needed to remove the barrel, but we were only able to strip it down to the barrel and upper.. is there any way to remove the barrel from the upper so i can get just the barrel in the lathe?? we called a local gunshop and they told us that it is one solid piece (pressed on), but after doing a little research online just now it seems like it is possible with a special wrench. not sure if the M&P 15 sport is capable of what i am trying to accomplish. any ideas? thank you very much
