Alternative rear sight for my Sport?
I bought a Sport last week and shot it today. Everything went fine at 50 yards. I like the rifle and would be content just to shoot it with iron sights - except my iron sites are plastic!
I know Magpul sights are supposed to be good and they certainly worked fine first time out but what would be a good steel rear site alternative?
I don't plan to put an optic on this gun, so I could spend a few $ on a different rear sight if there are good ones out there.
I'd like to have both windage and elevation click adjustments on the rear sight.

Troy industries flip up rear battle sight is a beefed up option.
At $100 to $175 its a bit pricey for some I guess but definetly an upgrade. This is the tricked out one with Tritium inserts. They make a "plane jane model" too. I'd like to get one of these at some point but MBUS will do for now.
There is an elevation adjustable one by a company called KNS but seems kinda awkward. Unless you are really doing some mega precision shooting the elevation adjustment of your FSB should be enough for most purposes.

I have the troy industries rear folding battle sight, it is typically what s&w put on the m&p rifles with food down sights, on models that didn't get the magpul sights.
They pull up manually, then depress pivot pin to lower. Rear sight flips between regular sight and one for more precision shooting, looks like sight pictured above.

You can also pick up MilSurp rear sights on Ebay for not a bad price, they actually have the distance marked on the side of the sight and you just click it in place for whatever distance you are shooting $50 or less.
NICE! ARMY AR STYLE MATECH (buis) REAR BACK-UP SIGHT 600 METER UNUSED | eBay
this one is presently going for $36

That's the way I remember the M-16 40 years ago from my time in service. Could you tell me where you got that handle and are you satisfied with its quality? And I see you put a real stock on it too. Retro!
And thanks to all for the replies and suggestions - I have a feeling I'm going to be shooting this new rifle a lot regardless of what sights I have on it!

I actually got the handle off eBay. It's a bushmaster. The seller listed it for $25 and I scooped it up. Works well and holds zero perfectly.
I changed the stock because I live in a state that bans collapsing stocks. So the fake m4 stock bothered me so I changed it out to an m16A1 stock complete with Otis cleaning kit stored in the trapdoor.

Carry Handle
UTG Aluminum Handle with rail, got them from Opticsplanet less then 50.00 for the set O.T.D. Haven't Had a chance to try it. The finish is O.K. for the price, you can pay a lot more for one of these things. Had the old rear iron sight, (not flip up) at first, and liked it and the carry handle sight is the same. Hoping the handle won't flex, and the scope will stayed zero'd. It used to hold zero with a riser just fine, But i realize I may need a smaller scope now.

great post, I am myself thinking I may need a smaller scope but I like the ability to shoot 300yrds accurately and be able to see (old eyes) clearly!!
