Default KaBoom At The Range!

This past Sunday my buddy calls me up and has me meet him in the middle of nowhere!. There he had those exploding targets setup, the ones that you add two chemicals together. On top of that he added some junk to the topside of all of it. I had my Sport and he his SKS and we just opened up! My Sport shot dead on! We were 100 yds away and there was stuff flying in the air everywhere! I haven't laughed that hard in a while. I think he has lost his mind. It cost him some bucks to do that. I'm just glad he called me to share it.

Oh it was! The last time he called me to meet him he had a bunch of old fire extinguishers that he decided not to sell. After we opened up there was nothing left but a hugh yellow cloud.

I bought a few poud of the exploding targets at the last gun show. Waiting for just the right weather on a weekend to try them out. Thought the boys would get a big kick out of blowing stuff up.

Tannerite bomb

Look at you tube, people are up to blowing 20lbs.
It will be outlawed, or gov. monitored by weight if it ain't already.
Guys are blowing cars in half with it. One guy blew up a dumptruck and ratteled the local nuclear power plant as it measured as a seismic event. He was arrested.

costs too much for me to use 20 pounds at a time! I actually got a bunch of pill bottles to break the mixed one lb packages down to. Prolly a lb, once, will be the most I blow up at a time.

Ya, I seen 9 $ a lb.
1 lb. explosion is like a mortar dropping close range.

I bought two kinds of stuff, like tannerite, but it was cheaper, about 6 bucks a lb. One was some stuff made in Oklahoma, weblow****uplegally.com

TangoF...it sounds like if he calls you it will not be a time to miss. I have a friend who wants to do this but he does not think things through and I am afraid of the shrapnel that might fly.

No. This guy was a Army sapper for 8 years. If I'm going to be near any kind of explosives I'd want someone with his background to set it up. He's not some redneck with TNT.

Well I wear tactical when we run and gun. Its realistic training and gets the heart rate up. At 51 though it is getting hard for this old fart.

I can see that but to sit at a table and get your weapon sighted in do you feel the need to have 1000 rounds in a pouch in the middle of your back? I am still trying to figure this out!

you youngster!

Well for one I rarely sit at a table. I shoot in an area where I can move along with the targets. Its a lot harder to hit when your blood is pumping and things are moving (real life scenarios) . I hate static targets. This may not be for everyone or some may not have this type of range set-up. But I do and take full advantage of it. This is how I trained for 22 years. It is getting harder to do and eventually I may not to be able to. But for now I'm enjoying every minute I can. You should too!

One time just try running real hard to the bench pick up your AR and engage the target and you'll see its not easy to do. Then try it with carrying some weight on your body, it gets even harder. If god forbid you are put in a position that you may have to take someones life, you better be ready and able to place those rounds where they belong and not hit bystanders. This is why you train and even when you train to do this it can still go wrong. But without this type of training it can be even worse. Training saves lives including your own.

As far as carrying a 1000 rounds.. No. I didn't even carry that much on my person in Iraq. A combat load is aprox.290 rounds. Now when I train I carry only 180 rounds in pouches right up front.

Sorry to preach or be long winded. I just wanted to explain how I roll. Like I said this is how I do it and its not for everyone and I'm not knocking anyone who doesn't.

In the last year I have had 2 hip surgeries, 1 hip replaced, right shoulder surgery and a Month ago Knee surgery with a replacement on its way. I would love to try it but running is just not something I am doing at this time. But it does sound fun. I think I will set it up but only take like 5 steps and pick it up load and charge and then fire 10 shots offhand for accuracy and time. I will let you know how I do! It really does sound cool!! It also sounds like something fun I can do with friends when we go shooting. As you said it would be good training even with my physical limitations. Thanks Again.

She is 24 and a teacher, lives 2hrs away and finds time to hang out with her old man. Most kids that age really don't like to hang out with their parents. That I've seen anyway. I'm lucky.

Train as best you can but don't over do it. A little is better than none. For me it gets harder and harder, cause I'm getting older and older, slower and slower!

Yep My Daughter is 23 and is a teacher and lives 6 hours away.
Funny Co-inkydink.
Yep I have been pushing my rehab pretty hard, I have always just been moving flat out and this has interrupted my lifestyle but it sounds like something I definately am going to do. Its a beautiful day in SW Kansas with not a lot of wind so I am going to try to go shooting for an hour or so after church.
Later
