Is the M&P15T 1:8 or 1:9?
The web site says 1:8, but I thought they were 1:9. Did they change the spec? I just money down on one and have 3-5 months to collect ammo before it's here.
Stay with the 55-65grain stuff?

Depends on which one you got. The one with the Troy rails and sights is 1:9 twist with chrome lining. The newer one with Magpul sights is 1:8 twist, 5R rfling and Melonite treated.

I find it interesting that the barrel that used to be 15-Sport specific is now being ported to other M&P 15's.

On paper, the specs are the same. I am curious if it truly is the same barrel or not though. If it is the same barrel, the Sport is one heck of a deal!

It seems to be proving very popular and accurate. I would choose it over the 1/9 but am basing that on opinions here and other reading of materials on melonite treatment and th 5R twist.

It is the new version, with the Magpul sights.(SKU811041) I'll be going in for shoulder surgery, in the next few weeks, so waiting 3 or more months, for it to arrive, is not that big of a deal. I'm paying $1009 out-the-door . Heck of a lot less than the LMT I wanted and no regrets since it's going to be a range gun.
