I orderded a M&P 15 sport Febuary 14th from my local gun range/store. When I ordered it the manger told me he already had 3 on order 1 week before, he said they would probley come in, in about 2 weeks. I did a lot of research and I think the Sport would be a good gun for me. For one thing the price (I'm married lol) it shoots 5.56, plus the money I save I wanted to spend on optics.

So I ordered it. Around Feb 28th I called the store and asked whats up. The manager (who orginaly sold me the weapon) said he wasn't sure what was going on. So I waited some more. Called on March 13th and the manager said he contacted Smith & Wesson and they could not give him a date, which sounded odd to me.

So I called Smith & Wesson myself. The guy I talked to was pretty nice. He says let me see whats going on. I could hear him clicking away at his computer. Then I hear "WOW". What's the matter I said. He said man, there's a 3 month backorder on that weapon. So I say OK and hang up the phone bummed out.

So here I am March 28th (tomorrow's my birthday) still waiting. In the mean time I bought a bunch of stuff thinking it will be here anytime, still no luck.

Also something not in the picture, I got a Magpul MIAD pistol grip which feels really nice (if only it was attached to the gun)

My buddy at work says "Dude you should attach all that **** to a piece of wood, at least you'd have something, Ha Ha". (That smart ***)

Anyway sorry guys I just had to vent, especially after seeing all the cool pics you guys posted of your modded AR's (very sweet)

So I'll just keep waiting (bummed out)

You could buy one from a retailer on the net instead of waiting months more.

Seems like everywhere I go on the net it says Out of Stock, Out of Stock, Out of Stock

Called a local store yesterday in NC and they had some in stock. Had them hold it for me until today and picked it up several hours ago. looking forward to some range time.

BTW, this was the only store out of many that had any in stock. The guy said it was one of the hottest guns in the country right now and the others would be gone by tomorrow at close, I actually believe him on this one.

Paid a bit of a premium at $699, but hey I have one and will enjoy it.

Last late July early August I decided that my life wouldn't be be complete without a Sport. I ordered one from a favorite ol' lgs dealer that is winding down their business. I then got the news that it would be sometime late January before I got mine.
So fast forward a month and I was at another really good lgs and casually asked them if they had one. No, but we've got several on order.
The next day, they called me and said that they'd got a couple in and would I be interested.......
Yeah, I paid $680 out the door. And haven't ever looked back. Great fun to be had by me.

Second off: Hens teeth - They are really hard to find right now, even on the net. Gunbroker has two; both with bids on them. I haven't seen any place else that has any at this time.

Well Vic 103 look at it this way. Look at all the ammo and toys you have stored up waiting. Second the LGS manager gave you a BS story about calling S&W (lazy employee). The wait will pay off when you get your hands on the rifle.( Like a kid on X-mas morning!) Be patient!

Seems with climate in the big town changes may be in the forecast and there is a run on firearms and ammo which may only get worse as orders out strip production. Supply and demand will cause scalping and hoarding.

Vic the link Jerry posted looks like a good price now days, especially if they have them in stock. The only one I've seen around lately was 700+. I would order the one at Woodbury and cancel your earlier order.

I had been looking for one for a couple months now but availability has been scarce in North Central Texas. Even on line was pulling up a zero. And I was checking all of them daily and this popped up on slick guns yesterday morning. I almost fell out of the chair ordering one and calling my local FFL. I hand carried my receipt and info on where to fax his paperwork to just to make sure he got it. Now just waiting on a shipping notice.

Anyone who lives in the FT. Worth area, the Cabella's on I 35 had a few a couple of days ago. They are located about 6 miles north of 820 at exit 65. They had 699.95 plus tax.

Can you tell me the name of the place and if he has a web site and does mail order ?

I know how you feel. I ordered a Sport mid December and was still waiting up until last Friday. The LGS got in a 15 OR for about $160 more, so I picked it up. I posted pics up in the pic thread.

I ordered one of the new style 15T's about a month ago. I was told expect a minimum of 3-4 months. The good news is that you locked your price in. There will be price increases.

Jerry let us know when yours comes in. Not a bad price now at Cabelas, cheaper than I've seen at Gander Mtn and all the Academys I look at are out. Vic where are you? You need to get one of these ordered right away!

I got an e-mail saying it shipped on 04-06, had ordered it on 04-5, which was awesomwe turnaround time. Fed Ex supposed to deliver today (Apr. 10th) to my local guy. But am out of pocket in Cheyenny, WY. I should be back there (North Central Texas) Wed. about noonish and will give him a call and go pick it up. Can hardly wait to get it picked up.

Got back into Texas about 12 noon, but didn't get it picked up till around 3 ish. Awww is it sweet, all I gotta do is pick up some 5.56 ammo quick and get it to the range.

You can drop by CTD, Cabela's, Academy or Walmart and get some. Get several brands while you're at it and see which it likes. 223 may be easier to find than actual 5.56 without going online.

Your right Wtex, 5.56 is hard to find in stores. All you see is 2.23. I was in Walmart last week and they wanted $6.95 for a 20pk of American Eagle ammo. The next step up was cheap Federal for $40 a 100 pk. Dicks wanted $7.95 for Tula 20 pk.

Will check and see if Academy has any. They usually have the 420 round ammo can in stock, will give them a call this morning. Online is pretty sparse, most 5.56 is out of stock.

From the research I had done, I found that the Federal American eagle was the same as what was in the 100 round Federal value pack. Apparently now the value pack is packed loose, but it used to contain 5 20 round boxes of the american eagle.

Just stopped by my local Army/Navy store and they just got 2 Sports in. They sold one before they could get it tagged and in their system. It was all I could do to keep from taking the other one home...

I ordered from Woodbury on Monday, should be at my LGS next Monday. Saw them on Good Friday, checked my LGS Monday morning to see if they could get one, I would rather shop local if possible, and they said order it all our distributors are out. When I got home Monday evening to place my order they were on sale. So waiting the weekend actualy saved me $.

$699 but the guy at the counter said I could get a deal on it from the owner if I walked out with it. I'm pretty sure I could have got $649 and it's still in the back of my mind!

Yes, I picked up a 15-22 in December and a 15OR in Feb. My wife would go nuclear if I came home with it but I'm almost ready to risk it. I don't know why, I just want one.

I called the links you guys posted and the one in Ohio had 10 in stock. I found out I would have to find my own FFL about $45.00 charge here in Michigan. Then cancel my order, another 40 to 50 dollar charge. In the mean time my LGS assured me it would be in in the next week or two so I waited.

When I got there he told me he had ordered 10 Sports and he only got this one and S&W couldn't give him a solid date when the rest would come in.

I'm a lucky guy, must be my clean living.....HA HA

Found an M&P Sport out in Alabama on GunsAmerica.com for $639 on Friday, paid for it on Monday, and it will be at my FFL dealer in Central Texas tomorrow(Wednesday). Super excited because this is my first AR and I am ready to start shooting and accessorizing it.
