Default Troy Industries Iron Sights for my M&P 15 ORC - question

I have an M&P 15 Optics Ready Carbine and i am getting ready to purchase and attach folding front & rear iron sights from Troy Industries. I'm fairly clear on what i need to purchase but have a question regarding the front folding iron sight.....

I initially assumed i could attach the Troy BattleSight Front HK Folding iron sight to the top of my gas block but then i realised they have a....

Troy BattleSight Front Gas Block Mounting HK

after realising that, i then assumed i would need this version for mounting on my gas block but then..... i read Troy Industries problem note that reads "Problem: Picatinny Railed Gas Blocks do not accomodate a same-plane aperture front sight."

the kicker for me is that the M&P 15 ORC picatinny gas block really does appear to be on the same-plane as the main rail so i'm now afraid that if i get the Troy BattleSight Front Gas Block Mounting HK it will in fact sit too high.....

needless to say, i'm a little stumped here and was hoping i could lean on the expertise of some smith & wesson veterans who've been down this road before.

any other advice regarding the direction i'm headed with these iron sights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You just need the standard Troy sight that is made for a picatinny rail. You are correct, the gas block is on the same plane vs. a low profile gas block.

I have the standard Magpul MBUS and they line up just fine. Moved them to my 15-22 as I don't want a glop of polymer on my gas block after a mag dump and looking for a front iron as well.

excellent. thanks for the quick response!

i'm very glad this is the case. i didnt want to spend the extra money for an iron sight that is less universal in its potential to be used on other guns/picatinny rails... not that i plan to move this iron sight onto another gun, but you never know.

thanks again

I also have the M&P 15 OR like you and recently purchased the Troy dioptic front and rear site. I spent hours trying to figure it all out on what to buy and what would work properly. The M&P15 OR is on the same plane, apparently some gas blocks sit lower or higher than the rail on the receiver. I havent taken my new sites to the range yet but it looks like a good fit, actually I love them so far and am very impressed with how well made they are and how good they look on my rifle. As long as the sites are for "same plane" you should be alright.

awesome! i just bought those yesterday and they shipped out today! can't wait.

next thing will be to pick a battlerail i like. i'd like to find one that that works "around" the front sight like the Troy BattleRail 12" MRF-CX. but i'm getting a little ahead of myself and will definitely need to read up a bit to make sure everything is compatible before i get too hasty. it's hard to not be excited though! lol
