if you don't replace the front sight block you will need to get the carry handle and the adapter to see over it 2 in min.

I am 1", but you dont have to replace the front sight, the focal plane prevents you from even seeing the front sight. When I first put my 8-32x42 on my sport the scope was almost touching the front sight and it wasnt in my way nor could I see it. So you do not have to have a carry handle to clear the front sight. You will never see it. I believe we can get other people to weigh in on this to support my statements

Interesting I didn't try it without the handle but when I replace this scope and move it to the 15-22 I will try without the carry handle on my new scope.

I "think" I can support your statement. I put my 12x scope on
the rail just holding it by hand. I didn't think I could see anything but I wanted to make sure. With my 3/4" riser I probably only need low to med. mounts. Watcha think??

Sorry, we were having a tornado warning...I am using a 1 inch of height, Because of the focal plane focus you will never see your front sight in your scope. Something about the focus being further out, I found with a 3/4" qd mount and regular scope rings it worked perfect. As I was saying when I put my big scope on at first the front sight was right in front of the scope lens and you couldnt see the sight at all and it didnt interfere with using the scope at all.

Thanks.... I just got my replacement qr riser in the mail today. Can't get to it till later in the week but would like to get the scope on it to check out some loads. I want the scope as low as possible for obvious reasons. regular mount will be nice.

you cant even see the front sight post with a 3x magnifier you will be fine with a bigger scope. my mk14 ebr in afghanistan had sniper screen (mesh like cloth) directly over the front of the scope to eliminate glare and you couldnt see it.

Nope one of the first member of the forum told me that and I didnt believe it but I tried it, I only put the rail height gas block on so I could move the scope I use further forward it is like longer than my barrel

I remember one time a friend and I were praire dog shooting at his buddy's place in Nebraska. We would drive out, park his truck, open the doors and use the doors to support our rifles, him on the driver side, me on the passenger side. I had an 8x32 scope cranked up to 32. I lined up a dog in my scope, pulled the trigger and I hear this sproing sound. I think, what the hell was that. Looked and his antenna was in half. I was aware it was out there, but never saw it in the scope. I gave him 30 bucks for a new antenna. He never replaced it, said it still worked ok.

Something very important to remember if you're ever using a chronograph at the range. haha.

Here's the antenna killer. My buddy lives in Iowa and I'm in Missouri and I haven't talked to him in a couple of years. This brought up old memories, I need to give him a call this week.

If you're not shooting in a competition I don't see anything wrong with utilizing technology to its fullest. lol
