Default New here from Minnesota

Just joined this forum and thought I'd say hello. Haven't handled firearms in 40 years but have had the urge to get back to them. So I'll consider myself a raw rookie but eager to learn(again). Bought a M&P 40 a few weeks ago and love it. I've been looking at AR's recently and have a strong desire to get the Sport but no one seems to have them in stock. Either locally or on line. I was pretty impressed with the store that I got the 40 at and told them that I would be back to order the Sport. Does anyone know how long it would take? from what I've been reading on other forums, the wait may be long. And most of what I've read about the Sport has been exactly what I would be looking for in my first AR.

I wish I could tell you how long it would take to fulfill your order. I've read on other posts that S&W has a back-log of orders. How much of a deposit does your LGS charge to put in an order?

If it isn't much and I were you, I'd place the order to get a spot in line. While waiting, keep on searching for one in stock somewhere.

Totally agree but you can shop online with some of the major retailers. Maybe someone in the forum can give you a clue as too who might have one

I picked mine up about 2 1/2 weeks ago on gunsamerica.com for $639, I looked just a bit ago and they are all going for $700+ right now, I guess everyone wants a Sport. By the way, welcome to the forum.

Is this a B&M store or on line?

The LGS that I'd go to wants 20% of their sale price. When I called and asked what they would be selling for, they didn't know for sure. I told the sales person that the MSRP was $739 and was told "about $890. Wait, that doesn't sound right". Now I know they sell below MSRP so this person had some math problems. It wasn't the sales manager, so I'll call again and ask for him right away.
And to all the rest: thanks for the warm welcome!

Welcome. If you can't get the Sport for anything less than the MSRP, its time to find another LGS. Your money is just as green in any other LGS.

Totally agree. The LGS that I went to(clear on the other side of town for me) has a reputation for selling below MSRP. The person I talked to must of been having a bad math day.
