Agree, mine came from Bud's in Dec. 2010 for $930 and local shops (SW Fl.) said they couldn't come close. Some Military dicounts showed up after that but I considered it a good buy because it included shipping, arrived flawless in two days and had a production date less than a month before (e mail S&W with the SN for that).

Considering what most seem to spend in upgrades, initial price IF within reason pales next to the total, finished package.

After stock, trigger, grip, scope and mount and numerous smaller tweeks, topping two grand is really easy!

That seems like a good price for a retail type shop. Fifty bucks less than a big box store here local that typically has the best price in the area.

I have seen them at gun shows for $700, but the deal seemed kinda shady. The dealer was offering the rifle, two mags, and a tactical bag for $700....all new. However, no box for the rifle, and no P-mags (had aluminum mags instead). He said that he sells to police departments and that they only want the rifle, no box or other accessories. He also said that if a local pd wanted to buy 75 rifles, S&W would give him a better discount if he ordered 100, so he would order the 100 and sell the extras at the gun shows.

I was looking for the Sport at the time I saw this deal. If he would have had some Magpul or other type BUIS that he could have made me a deal on, I probably would have bought it.

I got mine a the begining of the year for $850 and my LGS. Gander had it for $999. Just went in yesterday to pick up a little .22 pistol and saw they had it at $1,099. Definitely seeing some price inflation the closer we get to November.

We have a killer little general store. The owner is not a gun guy just a great business man with a killer store. He tends to keep about 450 + guns in stock and all sell for 10% over his cost.
