Hello!

Finally got my M&P 15t a couple of weeks ago. I went with a Burris AR-332 for optics; no complaints about the optic itself, although the stock mount could be better.

I have found that Burris does sell a replacement: the Burris AR-QD mount. I am pretty interested i this, I like the quick detach option, especially if it really will hold zero.

To my untrained eye- the stock Burris 332 looks like a one piece scope / mount.

Does anyone know how to take the optic off the original mount?
Does anyone own the AR-QD mount, if so- what are your impressions?

Thanks!

Take the 2 screws out of the bottom of the mount, then gently pry the optic from the mount. You may have to give it some oomph. It feels like they are glued together or something, but it will come apart. I don't own the QD mount, so I got nothing for you on that.

Thanks for the info storeyteller,

I did a bit more browsing on the internet and found out the same. I have a bad track record of breaking things which is why I like to make 100% sure that I know what I'm doing these days. Looks like some sort of loctite is used on the screw threads.

It is. I have taken mine apart and had no problem. I really like the optic also. If you decide to get it let me know how the QD mount works out. I change from the AR-332 to a scope on a regular basis and am interested to hear if it does hold zero. The burris, as is, is only slightly off zero when I put it back on but it would be nice to have it dead on.

I have the same Burris and just changed mine to the QD mount. If you turn the optic over, you will see two screws that holds the old mount to the scope. Simply remove the two screws, put the QD on and using the new screws supplied, screw them in and you are done.
To set the tension of the QD, mount it on your rails. IF it is loose, mine was, release the handles and with them straight, push in and turn the knobs on the other side one turn at a time until the mount is tight. The knobs are notched and once they are set, you are go to go. I have shoot, zeroed and removed and then remounted and it will come back to zero. All in all, I think it is one of the best optics out there for an AR style rifle.

Picked up a QD mount, sadly one of the levers was immovable! Sending it back whence it came; hoping the replacement is better.
