Talking "homebuilt" with a facelift and new parts.

those of you who have seen pics of my rifles wont recognize this one. it was the one I painted some parts fluorescent green. Well I tired of that so it got a facelift, plus a new MOE handgrip with Zombie Outbreak Response Team engraved in the grip, anti-walk pin on the trigger. She is great out to a little over a hundred especially on larger varmints. But as I have learned this style of optics isnt the greatest for bench shooting, but outstanding when calling predators.

I like this look better than the bright green Grover.
Does anyone know if zombies are color blind?
Better to play it safe and stick with earth colors, IMO.
YMMV.

Grover, if I could double like your post I would. Soooooo much better than the florescent green. But then, I am partial to OD green. Sharp looking rifle man! It says "I'm all business".

Where did you get that grip Grover? My son would love that on his 15-22. Be a good Christmas stocking stuffer for him.

Nice looking setup. Did you pay for the engraving or purchased the grip that way?

I've seen people color up weapons to the point where everytime they showed up you would think the circus had come to town or they had been a victim of a crayola crayon factory explosion.

LOL....this particular one has had that problem its whole short life. My wife chose the colors to begin with. I finally wore her down, it helped that my Dad also said that it just was a little too over the top. Yep this one at one time you would swear would glow in the dark. LOL

glockplates.com...this is one of his standard Items but he also does custom engravings and is real reasonable. I had him do an upper on my other rifle "cybersport" with USMC stuff on it.

My other rifle "Cybersport" is all black except for some Marine corps engraving and POW/MIA insignia on the handguard and is going to stay that way. I tried to make this one all black but my glow in the dark green would not come off of the buttstock. When I prep something for paint, it stays painted. So I did the next best thing and I kinda really like this OD green color and I used the Hunters Specialties Olive Drab green rattle can. the stuff really seems to work well. I am not worried about the buttstock or the pistol grip but that DPMS handguard when it gets warm we will see. I have decided to look for a DPMS or Hogue handguard preferably used, mid or rifle length to replace the Carbine length one with. If I can find one without the barrel nut it will be easier.

Ok I reread the thread about the distance for a red dot, and did a little experimenting and then watched the video about extras on a black or semi black rifle. Because I am under the weather and the Mrs wont let me go shoot till I start showing some improvement I am taking pictures of my rifles in their latest and I hope final configerations. here ya go:

and this one I took a pic through the 8-32x42 scope on my cybersport, set at the lowest power.

Grover, I have more of a chance becoming president than your rifle has of staying in that configuration.

^ HAHAHA!!! I'd take it one step further and say the rifle has a better chance of becoming president than staying in that configuration.

Something just occured to me, that Zombie Outbreak Response Team on the grip - needs some color. Dark blue outer and inner circle, a blood red symbol in the center, blue stars with a lighter than the dark blue for subtle yet noticable contrast, and white for the lettering.

ok, i'm just trying to start trouble here

I'm off to picatinny arsenal tomorrow for a few days for my quarterly visit, but i'll bet by the time I get back you will either have seriously thought about this and been really tempted or you will have gone ahead and painted it some combination of colors.

I haven't been to Picatinny Arsenal since I was a kid and in the boy scouts. It was so long ago that at the time they did a mock battle of a Vietnamese village and a fire fight with American troops. We won the battle, we had a tank, they had grass huts.

Trouble is,they leak and make a mess. So,if you see them coming, turn up the polka music and while they're dancing, steal their beer and run for the hills.

Ok...you guys were right and I was wrong. I am going to change the gas block back out and put on a railed one with a fold down steel sight and put on a Matech and either co-witness the counterfeit eotech or my UltraDot Pan-A-Vis Holographic sight. I decided that I do really need one AR with BUIS. Dang I am glad I didnt bet anyone!!

Ok here she is wearing BUIS with a Magpul (thanks to BuffaloHunter60) sighted in and working real well. Honestly having a rifle like this without BUIS in my opinion is a mistake and a mistake that I did. My Cybersport doesnt have any electronics on it, and is set up to shoot distance so I see no need for BUIS, but this one should have had them from the get go!! Live and Learn!!

The name "Homebuilt" doesn't suit that rifle. I'm calling it "The Transformer". It changes every few weeks.

Better to play it safe and stick with earth colors, IMO.
YMMV.
No you have to have neon green gear. That's the only way other non-zombies will know not to shoot you
