Got my new M&P Sport home yesterday, took it out of the box, and couldn't get the adjustable stock to function - the lever doesn't seem to do anything...Anyone else have this problem???

Congrats on the rifle. Where do you live? Some states require a pinned stock.

You pulled the adjustment lever down (away from the stock) and then tried to push or pull the stock and it did not move?

Mine all move by squeezing the lever towards the buffer tube. The only time I pull the lever away from the tube is when I want to remove the stock.

Yeah, I'm guessing you live in an AWB state.

Yep you either live in a state without adjustable stocks or you got a compliant model. If you live in a state that is not a compliant state contact the mothership and they will fix you right up.

I bought a compliant model and live in AK so I am legal to have a adjustable, so I pulled the roll pin already but the lever does not move.
There is a allen that threads into the rear tube.
What or how can I make mine adjustable?
Thanks

Thought someone that knew would have answered by now. I don't know, but I would take the allen and anything else that would come out, off and see what happens. Worst case you just put it back together.
Perhaps calling the mothership would be a good idea as well...
Good luck!

yep I would take the allen out. Can you please post some pics so I know what we are looking at. I have taken my adjustable completely apart and I dont know of an Allen headed bolt. It is possible with some pics we can point you in the right direction.

Not the best advise here, but you could always buy a new buffer tube and buttstock!

Well, it's been 11 days since the last post so I assume the issue has been resolved, but just in case...
The compliant Smith ARs come with a receiver extension that is not adjustable. Not only is the stock pinned and the lever secured with an allen head screw, the extension itself does not have the holes necessary for adjustment. See below:
On the left is a standard 6-position commercial receiver extension. On the right, the fixed stock assembly I removed from my M&P15 Sport. As you can see, the channel and holes that the pin needs to secure in to allow adjustment of the stock are not present.
I'm curious if you have a ban-compliant model, or if just the stock is incorrect. Does your rifle have a flash hider and a bayonet lug?

I have a NY compliant fixed stock. Trying to take it apart to install the FRS15. Can't get the castle nut off and how do you remove the stock pin? I do have the Tapco wrench but I can't seem to break it free. I do see that the castle nut has two "stakes". As you can see this is going well..........can anyone provide any insight?

You need to use a punch and carefully peen back the staking on the castle nut. Sometimes, the staking is weak and it takes just a bit of extra force to get the castle nut turning.

Mcgovsd lives in a restrictive state. I assume his intention is to make as much of a "featureless" rifle as possible.
