Has anyone tried or know if the .50 caliber Beowulf upper will fit on the M&P 15 lower? The description on Cabela's says it's for the Colt AR-15 but wondered if there was anything "special" about the Colt vs. other manufacturer's "mil-spec" ARs. I'm new to the platform but am enjoying playing with it and replacing some components to improve the feel and function of the gun. It seems to me that running a .50 cal would require a change in the recoil buffer, but I'm sure it'll still be a heck of a recoil in any case (firing a 334 grain bullet has got be harsher than a 55 grain). Thanks in advance for any comments.

A friend of mine has a .450 upper on a Smith Lower and recoil is not that bad...I was really surprised...very pleasent to shoot...hits hard and is light to carry. Also very accurate...so I am sure it will go with no problem, I can check with him and ask about the buffer and what he did there. try to get back to you on that

The Beo kicks. Overall wasn't too fun when my buddy had it.
I did enjoy shooting it but as far as practicality and bang for the buck I think there are much better options.
That being said if you have the money to spend and don't mind a thumper, it is a great addition to a blackticool collection.

Colt's have a larger pin in the front of the receiver than other AR's. its
.310" or .312" vs the rest which are .250". Brownells has a couple of different adaptors available.Hope this info helps.

As I looked at the descriptions of the various Beowulf uppers, only ONE said it would fit any mil-spec AR15 lower; sounds like that's the one to get... perhaps the others that don't say that are made for the Colt's larger forward pin (I know Cabela's only listing for the Beowulf states it's for the Colt AR15 specifically).
