Default vortex viper PST 6-24x50

i'm very close to buying one of these for my 5.56 AR 15 and wondered if anybody has any experience or opinions on them? price wise at 950 dollars they're at the top of my budget so don't bother telling me how nice the schmidt and benders or night forces are.... I KNOW i'd buy one in a second if i could find one for the same price as a vortex. but this is as high as i want to go. i considered a minox and nikon and some others in the sub thousand buck category. everything i hear about the vortex is that they're awsome for the price.

hope some people have comments

thanks

I've not used the model you're considering, but I have been very impressed with their 6.5X20 44 mm that I bought at Cameraland a couple of years ago.

Default Vortex

I have one on my Bushy and I have been very impressed. I don't remember paying as much as you have listed though. Nice scope, no issues at all.

I have the next size down....a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP (first focal plane) mil/mil on my Savage 10 FCP HS-Precision. It works well on my .308 Win rifle. I've shot it out to 600 yards. I like the elevation zero stop. It would be nice if the turrets locked in place but you can't have everything for the price it sells at.

Looks like this close-up.....
