Default WPA & Brown Bear ammo question

Has anyone used non-corrosive WPA 55gr HP, or Brown Bear non-corrosive 55gr FMJ in the AR? I have a M&P15t and I am able to pick up 500 rounds of the WPA for $140, and 300 Brown Bear for $100. As I am still new to the world of AR's and ammo I thought I would ask the experts. Thank you all for your response and help.

Shane

The WPA might be a good deal if its not lacquer coated. The Brown Bear I would completely pass on since its most likely Lacquer coated.

Reason I say pass on anything Lacquer coated (regardless of how great a deal it is) because of jamming issues. As you fire your gun the lacquer heats up then starts to melt and can jamb the chamber. Then you gotta sit there un-jamb it and clean it.

Heck, buy it.
Even if you try a few in your firearm and it doesn't work, you can always sell it for what you bought it (at least).

If its lacquer coated non corrosive, I would buy it. The issue you'd have to be cognizant of is fouling of the chamber. Get a good AR15 chamber brush and cleaning solvent to scrub it out.

I have shot thousands of rounds of Brown Bear in ARs with no ill affects. Just clean your chamber well after each use. But than ARs should always have their chambers cleaned after use.

The teflon coated ammo nullified the issue of Lacquer melting in the chamber. I have run thru literally 8,000 rounds of Wolf/WPA in my sport over the last 2 years. No issues.
If I had a line on a good deal on ammo? I'd buy it, and sit on it if I had to. A couple here, a couple there.... you can have fun shooting for a whole summer when you have a little ammo stored!
