I installed a set of 45 degree sights today, and they are great. I mounted them with the sights sticking out the right side of the rifle with the rear behind the scope and the front at the end of the rifle length handguard. All it takes is a little twist of the rifle and your vision moves from the scope to the Irons, They are the same height as the factory sights from the centerline of the barrel. The rear has dual apertures with full windage and elevation adjustment. I have been trying to take pics but my photography skills pale in comparison to BHarada's but I will get some up as soon as I can:D

A plus is that they would act as another brass deflector for left handed shooters, maybe! :D we will find out when my lefty wife shoots it

Great idea. I never liked getting anything too high off the top of the scope.

Any problem with ejecting brass hitting the rear sight ? Looks like it should clear.

Do you down load the photos on your PC ? I can "clean" up photos when I do that on mine, crop, lighten adjust color.

Funny you mention that. Growing up I always shot skeet left handed. It felt natural and doesn't require dominant eye. I was dang good at the skeet range too! When I bought my bolt action 22 I HAD to teach myself to shoot strong side. It was really odd at first but I got used to it. Is your wife a true lefty (left eye dominant)? I still shoot pool left handed. I'm a odd bird. lol

Maxx...I can try to edit the photos, I was just trying to get them up

Zippy...yes sir a true lefty

JHC...I truly hope that is all it ever is...HHIIIIYYAAAA!!

Actually it is for Coyote hunting, sometimes they pop up so close it is easier to use Iron Sights!! :D

Cool.

Talk about confused. Growing up....shotgun left. Pistol right. Pool left. Batting in baseball both. Throw right. My mom even told me as I was learning to write I would write a sentence with my right hand then switch to my left. So either both sides of my brain are equally strong or both are equally impaired. lol

What kind of sight is that Grover? There was a guy over in the 15-22 forum looking for that same set up.

Its one that I found on eBay...I sent you a pm...it seems to be really well made and I hope to sight it in tomorrow! but it is fully adjustable even the front post.

looks nice, I have been toying with that idea myself.

it is standard profile, it just hangs off of your rail, as I have looked around some people mount both ends on their handguard. I am trying for a longer sight radius but we will see how that works out. I took the riser out from under my other sports scope mount and am getting a rail for the handguard so I will have to put the riser back in and will install a set on it also.

just got my 15OR (Christmas)

i put a scope on it, so we can harvest some deer, but i am very interested in the set up that you have -- if possible could you give a few more details (ie: did the sites come with 45 degree mounts or are seperate, how much, etc...)

newbie here (son has killed a 3 point at 250 yards with it, his first) but i worry about not having the close range capabilities with just a scope (Nikon P-223) --- this looks like a very viable option

thanks in advance

The sights came affixed to the mounts, they are the same height as the standard sight and the way they are mounted they are exactly the same distance from the centerline of the barrel as the standard style sights.
They are completely adjustable and the rear has both a small and large aperture that you just flip over. The knob on the rear sight is marked just like GI carrying handle sights and the front is the standard post sight.
They clamp on with one screw and you can tell by looking at the picture lay really flat on the rail.
Just a small twist of the rifle puts you straight from the scope to the irons and are made to be mounted on the left or the right. So far I am impressed, there was a tiny bit of play in the rear and I contacted the seller and he explained it to me (and I do mean tiny but I am anal about my rifles) and also offered me an immediate refund if they dont suit me.
A person could mount them at any distance that they want, I just like a longer sight radius.
I really have high hopes for them for closer shots, especially when hunting. Its raining today so I more than likely wont get them sighted in today but I will at my first chance. :D
p.s. Welcome to the forum :D

Grover: Just funnin' ya. I kind of like the off set sights. I can see how they could be useful in certain situations. Although it reminds me of a Glock I saw that had the sights on the right side of the slide. They were Antonio Bandera style; like in the movies where the gangsta holds his piece sideways.

JHC...yeah you showed me that pic...absolutely funny and it is a real business... :D

Well I am truly mall ninja now, I just installed a full length rail and offset sights on my other sport (thanks Zip) I really like them, I had my cousin the USMC armorer and LEO over and he checked them out and is going to get a set...I will post pics when I can but I am kinda busy between installing things and loading 45acps, I hope everyone has a great saturday!! :D
