.458 SOCOM
.458 SOCOM - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Want one so badly just for the tacticool factor. Unfortunately, I really don't have an easy way to justify it to myself after getting my .300BLK. Pretty that they can single stack in .223 mags though.

Found the justification. 30rd mags single stack 9 rounds. 20 mags single stack 7. No officer, those are just seven and nine round mags for my .458 SOCOM.

Be careful with the 300's. The short little round can chamber in a .223.
Not a pretty sight. Color code you mags for safety!

Wouldn't mind a 458 SOCOM or 450 Bushmaster myself. Neither is really high on the list (currently), but I wouldn't mind having a big bore AR. If you get a 458 let us know how it works out!

I just cant think of what i'd shoot with a .458 that wouldnt get destroyed after the bullet hits it, lol.
My .300 blackout is used on the hogs, coyotes, and occasional deer. And i can only imagine what would happen if i shot one of those with a .458.
Surely a deadly round by any means. But i dont think there would be enough meat left over for my taking, lol

I would like to set up one of my Sports for hunting deer but in Kansas you have to be over 25 cal and here you need to have the ability to shoot a realy long distance. My last deer was well over 250 with my .308. The adjustable objective was set almost to 300. 1 shot through the heart, I have been thinking about buying one in 243. I would love to find a bolt action upper in 243.

The rifle does, but I keep thinking that someone could make a bolt action upper. It would still require an M&P10 lower. Just a dream, unless it was a single shot.

What about the Bohica .50 BMG upper for about $1300?
Well ......... I guess I 'can' understand the weight factor being a consideration .....
I have a Barrett M99 in 416 Barrett that shoots a solid brass 395 grain VLD round out to well past 2.5K meters at .65 MOA (that's in 16" at a mile and a half) with some folks (not me!!) shooting the Hornady Match 450 grain out to 3K.
And although both these projectiles are still super-sonic past 2.5K (about 1.5 times that of the 50 BMG) if I wasn't in Kommiefornia I'd have gotten my M99 in 50 BMG even though the ballistics favor the Barrett 416.
Its just so cool to be able to get all sorts of different 50 BMG rounds for different purposes, and so readily available.

I thought DPMS offered a .243 in and AR10 frame. And a few other calibers as well.

I know Olympic Arms offers the 243 and LMT does also.
Somebody local is trying to sell a Bohica .50 for $4500, I was glad to see the price you posted. You never know when you are going to need anti-aircraft support LOL (big brother if you are reading this that was a joke)

Hey Grover, that is a rediculous price. They show up used for as little as $1000.
An older one had a "reported issue" with it firing when not fully locked.
This seems to be a mix of lore, the guy has messed with it, and it just actually happened to a stock not mollested upper.
In any case, as I 'understand' it, it's been fixed so that can't be done. (????)
And there are other brands of 50 BMG uppers for AR's at about the same price as the Bohica.

I've only looked a little, don't have the funds right now, but I found a couple:
Rock River Arms: RRA LAR-458 .458 SOCOM
For less than $800 for just an upper.
Others I found were $1000+
