just talked to my friend who runs Special Order Firearms section at Cabelas (ok, more of an acquaintance, but we know each other's first names by now)...he said the ammo squeeze seems to be getting a bit lighter on 5.56/.223...how he can tell? it's actually making it to the shelves, and some is even lasting a few hours at the local store now...just a month ago, they had lines and didn't even put it out, just brought out the boxes and started rationing...he thinks the bubble is about to burst, just his .02 thought i'd mention it...

I really think it's going to take 3 to 5 months for things to improve. .22 ammo was hit or miss before the craziness. I lucked out and ordered a case in November. People are paying way too much for ammo on backpage and gun broker. You are going to have the guys buying up all they can to sell online for double the price for a while. That will keep the ammo availability down.
I hope I am wrong.

I just got lucky. I check some sites on a regular basis and if I see it ,I post it here. This is the only site I post, other than 1522 of course. So it helps if you are a member or lurker. I just try to help everyone as I know this is a difficult time to find and/or buy anything. BTW- I reload so I don't buy ammo often. But I am seriously on the hunt for 22 ammo for my 3 1522's. I have some stockpiled but I would like to have some more.

Kind of expencieve $.65 cents a round at a 1000 round case.
Month and a half ago I paid $6.99 for a 20 round box. That about $.35 cents a round.

Yes, I can do the math. The key words in my post were " in case you really want to stock up". A month and a half ago, ammo could be found everywhere for that price. Right now it is hard to even find it period. I just post it when I see it, I don't make the price. I just thought if anyone was interested, there it was. I bet it gets sold out tho even at that price.

That wouldn't help now, either. No primers or bullets out there. Hell, even the dies are on backorder.

Scheels Des Moines iowa had 50 round boxes for 24.99, 55gr soft point. yesterday. This price is 3.00 more then 4 years ago. That store has my business long after this madness is over.

Disregard my last post-I think they are having difficulty with their website oor they are updating it. The case showed up but when I checked again it wasn't there so I am not sure.
