First AR-15 (M&P15 MOE) - Free Cerakote - Need Help Customizing Rifle (parts)
I will keep it short. I bought my first AR an M&P15 MOE - I will start off by saying the gun had some scratches in it from Smith and Wesson but I didn't catch them until I got home. S&W said to send it to them and they will repair, but I got a better offer. Free cerakote. I am going to get it done the first week of April, however, since I am getting it Cerakoted, I need to get all the pieces I think I will put on it now, so everything will match.
1 - I want to take off the A2 sight and change it to a low profile gas block/flip sight (I will want an EOTech in the future and I don't want the A2 to get in the way).
2 - I want to change the hand grip to something like this:
Rainier Arms™ | Browse | Fortis MFG | Fortis REV™ Free Floating Rail System - 12
Fortis REV Free Floating Rail (2 sides rails, 2 sides keymod)
Looking for opinions.. Which type of gas block/flip sight would you go with? I was thinking about getting a Magpul sight, but then I read not to put that on a gas block for fear of melting. So now I am looking at other sights (YHM), and there are a number of them, so I am not sure which to go with.
I don't want to spend a ton of money on a gas block unless I absolutely need to ($50 would be nice), and for the front sight, $50 would be nice too.
Also, what do you think about the hand guard? I've read that keymod will be the industry standard someday?
I will say this - I haven't even shot my rifle yet, but I am trying to scramble to get what I need so that it can all get painted.
Thanks!

Another completely different option that I was thinking. The main reason I want to make changes, is because the MOE hand guard doesn't look mean enough. I want that tough look..
So if I KEPT the A2 sight as is, I could get the Daniel Defense Omega and I believe it is as easy as taking off the MOE and putting on the Omega.. Do you think that would be a better option?
In the future I would like to MAYBE mount a bipod, but I definitely will want a foregrip (which I have now on the MOE [came with it]), and a light.
I also bought the rail system to mount on the MOE hand guard, but I am just really not liking the look - I want that see through, razor's edge look.
Which option seems better, 1 or 2?
The pic I attached is the color pattern I am going to use. I am going to do Cerakote Titanium Blue (shows as a gray), with the rest of it black, similar to the one pictured.

Wowsa!
I can't wait until you have the time to post a longer comment!
I can't help you, an AR is a personal thing and I kind of like mine stock, minimalistic and 'battle ready', while some like every do-dad available.
I can see either way really!
Please post lots of pics as you build the perfect AR!!!

I decided to keep the A2 sight and I bought a Midwest Ind Gen 2 drop in rail - I decided to keep things simple for now. Bought a $10 light mount from Amazon (has good reviews) for my ultrafire that I have had sitting around. It's not surefire, but it is 210 lumens and pretty bright. I will post pics after I get it cerakoted in a couple weeks.

I like my M&P 15 MOE as is. Why buy the Magpul edition if you're gonna replace the Magpul parts?

I love that handguard, I would go with a Yankee Hill, micro gas block, and a black gas tube. You could always pick up a nice set of BUIS to go on your rails. Having that handguard on a 16" barrel is going to be B.A. enough. I would keep my eyes out for a used nice front sight, your going to paint it anyway,
Cerakoat, hmmmm, Candy Apple Red, or Blue or Green or Orange. But people say I am crazy!!LOL

One of only two S&Ws in mid-length; one of only three with 1/8 5R barrels.
OP: I'd leave your front sight post alone, throw on a Daniel Defense EZ CAR handguard which is designed as a drop in replacement, and work your glass in a lower third co-witness.

Why? Because that was all I could get. My co-worker said, I got a call for an AR but I already bought one. Do you want it? So I bought it without even seeing it.
