Steel-cased, Russian-made, and sells out right away.
A sign of the times, apparently.

Reckless- don't worry, you will eventually have enough.
Also know that Lost Lake has benefitted from my surfing the net.

Yeah! Let's bash steel cased ammo! Please do -- it'll leave more out there for me.

lol as long as its not going to blow up in my face or break my gun, I am fine with it. I will just put it at the top of my "cheap ammo to only be used at a indoor range/Ammo the girlfriend will use to shoot at the range stack"

Re: herters .223 for 6.99 a box of 20
It is mainly range ammo and it is not match grade. Some peeps dont like it cause its not reloadable (well it is but its a pain) and thats understandable. Its also true that some guns dont like steel cases.
People complain about parts breakage, especially extractors. No one ever blames the sub par part. The problem was in the part and shooting brass as opposed to steel did prolong the life of the part. It goes like this .......brass case and part broke, must be the gun.....steel case and broken part, must be the case. Its very soft steel
Oh and for some odd reason NO ONE seems to complain about Hornedy steel case even though the cases are sub contracted from Russia.
I have close to 15k rounds for various rifles and handguns. 95% of that is steel case. Ive been shooting since 1998 and have yet to have a problem. Ive shot it in revolvers, old Lugers, ARs, Remington 700, 1911s 8mm Mausers.... The Remington was the only one to be a little finicky.

The bullet that is used in the Russian rounds also comes under scrutiny, due to it having a bi-metal jacket, not copper. The Hornady steel cased ammo does not have the bi metal jacket. Lots of discussion regarding barrel wear between the two.

Yes and unless you shoot 50k + rounds a year you wont see a difference.

I'm not sure about that. There was an article where they were running 4 different firearms and they totally shot out one barrel at around 6000 rounds. Now, they were firing at extreme rates, so it may not represent your typical useage, but it was interesting none the less. I'll see if I can find it to post the link, because I don't remember enough of the details.
For the cost savings that you can usually get from the steel cased round, you can probably buy a new barrel by the time you shoot one out.
