U can buy an AK47 for just as cheap. May as well go that route and have it done the right way.

im not feeling a fan of the AK47 look to be honest. I prefer the AR style.

I have an Olympic upper. It works fine. The problem is not the upper or even the idea of 7.63x39 in an AR. The problem is no one makes good magazines - or at least none that I am happy with. Check out the magazine situation carefully before you spend your money. It is a lot cheaper to order and evaluate a magazine than an upper.
If you are not an AK/SKS fan, maybe a Mini-30?

or there is the 300 aac blackout that is a 7.62mm... the ammo isn't as cheep or plentiful but it's a better rout for 7.62 in an AR-15 platform, I think. otherwise just get the AK. my .02

Unless you are pretty confident about buying something like this from an individual, I would recommend buying from a reputable vendor. If you need support of any kind, it is going to be a lot easier to get from Bushmaster or Olympic - someone that you can get a hold of as opposed to a private seller. To repeat though, check out the mags! Order a couple and see what you think before you spend the money on the upper.

That upper seems very expensive. Never
thought of the mag issue. Then again
the AK looks pretty cool to me. I hated it
at first but one day I stared liking it. Sounds like
a few women I've been with.

I built one for deer and hog hunting. ASC Mags are hit or miss. CProd mags are the best and mine have been reliable. Magazines and feed ramps are the key.
Built the upper and slapped it onto a stock S&W M&P15 lower with a heavy hammer spring installed.

I do not have one yet, but I plan on buying a 7.62x39 AR upper from Bear Creek arsenal. The goal is an upper for hogs. What makes theirs run properly is that their barrel extensions for the AK round use .300 Blackout extension ramp cuts for the fat .30 cal bullet. Using the .223/5.56 ramps with a fat .30 cal bullet is idiotic. The early fix was cutting out the wall between the 2 lower ramps, and making one really fat one. That and the right mags. Most consistent over the years from what I have read ARE the C Products. C-Products 7.62x39 AR-15 Stainless Steel Magazines Joe Bob's is a good vendor FWIW.

Palmetto State Armory has the 16" AR upper in 762x39 complete with BCG for $269.00. And they have the correct magazines for it too. Mine as been fantastic!. You couldn't run fast enough to give me a 300 BO. Its a vastly overrated under powdered cartridge. the 7.62x39 has plenty of umph for deer and hogs.
