IM trying to visualize this in my head. Any pics? Is your front site post built into the gas block, or is it a Magpul Mbuis you put on? You also may be too close. I believe battle ZERO is 75yds.

It's an AR-15 and you likely will not be able to sight it in at less than 25 yards. 50 - 100 yard zero is typical. The AR has a high sight over bore set up. At 10 yards, you're better off with a pocket pistol, sharp stick or medium sized rocks.

Thanx- I see where I am too close. In answer to the first ? it is a new AR15 sport- with standard A2 fixed front sight and I am too close to the wall and laser, so I will remove the riser and go to the range. For the second suggestions- I dont let you get close enough for rocks, I carry my Glock36 for close/clean up work. I havent used long guns in years hence the simple questions- thanx again!

For a 100yrd zero you'll want your laser dot to be about 1.5" lower than POA at 25yrds. If you're using irons closer than that and you want to shoot POA/POI you'll have to try the "shooting out of the notch" technique for a round to impact roughly POA.
Google "The Zen of the 100yrd zero" if you haven't seen it yet.

Kinda sounds like you've visited Arfcom.
Adult would not be the order of the day over there.

To get you started, sighting in at 50 yds will put you about 1.5 in high at 100 yds and back to 0 at just over 200. You can approximate this by sighting in slightly less than 1.5 in low (1.3 if you can make that fine of an adjustment with an AR front sight - hard to do with irons) at 25 yds. If you use optics it is easier to fine tune, but using optics everyone expects you to be really accurate !! Google "AR15 trajectory graphs" These graphs compare 55gr (193) and 62gr (855) trajectories using 25 yd, 50yd, and 100 yd zeros.
I use iron sights rather than optics and have 75 yd range at home so I use the 50 yd zero. I don't have a need to shoot longer than about 175 anyway so with a 50 yd zero my point of impact is within 1.5 inches of my point of aim.
