5 round mag suggestions?
I'm looking for a couple of dependable 5 round mags for my S&W M&P15 sport that are actual 5 rounders, not pinned or blocked. Did a search but turned up nothing.
Thanks

Are you saying the 10 round is too tall for your taste?
Savage makes a 5rd magazine for 223. Only problem is it fits their bolt rifle.....
Just pin one. It's easy to do. And it works just fine.

I found one on Gun Broker a few months ago for $29.95 but it's an actual 5 round mag and yes they are very hard to find. I bought it in case I decided to use my AR to hunt with.

Thanks folks, will check out the suggestions. As fyimo mentioned, I am planning on using this for hunting, and the regs state only 5 round or less mags can be used. Got conflicting reports on the legality of using pinned/blocked mags, so thought I'd stick to actual 5 rounders and avoid any possible issues altogether. So will any ar15 type 5 rounder work in my sport? Hoss, I saw the stoners at midway and wasn't sure.
Thanks again to all for the info.

All AR 15 magazines are compatible. The ones to steer clear of in general tend to be Thermold mags.
Some have decent luck with them, some have a terrible time with them. I have issues with them, and there are plenty of good magazine makers out there, so don't pull a blank on the antelope or bobcat of a lifetime due to a cheap magazine.
Stoner, Pmags, USGI, Brownells, Lancer, BCM all work.
FWIW, a pinned mag is a pinned mag. They are legal for hunting.

As long as they state they are for use with AR-15 / M-16 rifles, yes they will work just fine. And yes, these two 5 rd magazines below, are good mags with the best anti-tilt follower.
AR-Stoner Mag AR-15 223 Remington 5-Round Anti Tilt Follower SS Black
C Product Defense AR-15 Magazine 223 Remington/5.56 NATO 5 Rounds Orange Follower Matte Black 0523041188CPD
All of the M&P15 series AR-15 rifles, are compatible with MIL spec magazines. 5 rd, 10 rd, 20 rd, 30 rd, 40 rd, Surefire 60 rd & 100 rd, Beta Mag C-Mag 100 rd drum and even the X-Products X-15 50 rd drum magazines will work.
Hope this helps.

I don't see how you could physically extract a 5 rd mag, the 10 is way too stubby as it is. Agree with others, install a limiter and pin it. Maybe put a ranger plate on as well if you think you might need quick changes.

You hit the mag release button and the mag drops free just like any other properly working magazine/rifle platform. If they don't drop, they pop down far enough for you to pull them out of the mag well.

I bought converted .308 P-Mags from this outfit, but it looks like the converted 5.56 P-Mags are sold out MidwestPX.com
You can still send them your own P-Mags to modify for you MidwestPX.com
