Free float quad rail.

I have installed a few Yankee Hill forearms on one of my ARs and a few friends. Nice and solid and great for tacticooling. My only complaint is they use a non-standard jam nut that requires you to purchase the wrench from them as well.

I've installed two YHM quadrails and never had to use a special wrench.

Hand tight then use a flat screw driver with a rag over the end put it in the notch designed for that special wrench and give it a few good taps with a hammer. I know, oh the horror using the wrong tool for the job. Put mine on about 800 rounds ago. no worries.

That "looks" good and the price is in the ball park...just be aware that the barrel nut on free-floats may not quite cinch the barrel up tight to the receiver and will require a shim of some sort to insure there is no play. Also, most use some type of locking screw on the underside that indexes into the slots of the barrel nut to "lock it" from rotation. The problem is, with the top slot perfectly aligned, some will end up with the bottom slot not aligned with the screw! If you just screw-in the screw without understanding what it does it could end up loosening the barrel nut, or trying to rotate the nut against the gas tube!
One might presume that the more money is paid the better the fitment without problems...but I would not expect it.
 
There are several good choices- Daniel Defense, Troy and Yankee Hill all make great stuff. I bought a UTG Pro - UTG doesn't have the best reputation (and some of their stuff really isn't that good), but their Pro series (US made) is quite good, and very well priced. I paid $85 for a 9" rail, and I've had no problems whatsoever. Unless I'm very wrong, it's the same rail S&W has started putting on the 15T.

Well installed the Midwest Industries T series free float.

Bought some rail covers which makes the quad rail fit well in my hand.

Install went well with no problems. Now all I have to do when this cold weather breaks is to get out and see if it will improve the accuracy of the AR. :)
