Default Strikefire

Ive decided to buy a strikefire and the strikefire 2 is new. Which one should I buy. The 2 doesn't come with a x2 magnifier.

have no direct experience, but most report the 2x addon is kinda cheesy and worthless, so I would not base the decision on whether that is included.

I agree. The 2x thread on magnifier is okay at best, not much eye relief and having to thread it on and off isn't as convenient as a flip to side magnifier.

Whichever model you choose, go for the red dot only version.

I have the Strikefire red/green dot version and the red dot isn't terrible on a sunny day but it could definitely be brighter. Supposedly the red dot only version is 10-20% brighter.

The Strikefire II has better controls which give it a slightly slimmer profile. Other than that, there is really no reason to get the II over the original.

I had a SPARC with the 2x magnifier and I can tell you it's almost worthless. It has a ton of thread so, installing it is not quick. Once installed, the size of the aperture is effectively cut in half. Worst of all, a magnification of only 2x is not really that much. You won't miss it because you'd never use it anyway.

The big difference with the II is the re-done controls. Some had problems with the original getting turned on accidentally, negatively impacting battery life. Hasn't been a problem for me, though. 2x magnifier is ok, but seems odd that they didn't make it at least a 3x, which is the lowest power of any other magnifier out there.

different strokes for different folks. I REALLY like having the green dot. rarely use the red on mine. Bulls eyes on plenty of paper targets is red, and the dot gets washed out, same as if shooting clays (as stationary targets). Plus, the green uses MUCH less power, gets you about 300 extra hours on the battery life vs red.

I agree. I have the Strikefire Red/Green dot. Having the magnifier is kind of worthless. Also, having the sight forward as possible on my M&P15OR will allow me to co-witness a pair of Magpul Pro BUIS. I got a great deal on the first Strikefire. But the newer version mount I like better.

Yeah the x2 is pointless. I took it to the range and shot around 150 rounds, it's a nice red dot scope. Didn't take long to sight it in, I love it. May try a scope and see which one would be better
