M&P 15T sights
Now that I have already ordered one just this morning I have a question on the Magpul MBUS sights that come on this model.
Are they the plastic version or the metal ones?

Based on the current listing on S&W.com, they are the folding polymers - but if bhayles got the metal ones (Magpul Pro's) then maybe they have updated the rifle and not updated the site. You would think if they came with Pro's the S&W site would definitely mention that, since they are twice as costly (and much, much nicer imo).

When I ordered the AR I was totally ignorant of all things AR. I reesearched and decided on the Sport...and didn't know squat about MBUS sights or antyrthing else. Basically I took it on trust that what I bought was good.
The only reason I know my sights are metal is because I checked after seeing this thread. I know what the S&W website says...but I know metal when I see/touch it, and when I checked the gun after reading this, they are definitely metal, regardless of what they are supposed to be.

Huh? The current Sport has a polymer rear folding sight, with a metal fixed front sight. Is your rear sight the folding variety, or fixed? The older Sport had fixed front and rear metal sight.
The older 15T came with metal, folding sights from Troy Industries. The current model has polymer Magpul MBUS.

OK you are talking about a different model, the M&P Sport - the OP is talking about the 15T. The Sport should comes with the standard (metal) A2 post front sight and a rear folding sight - again S&W still shows it as the polymer magpuls.
The OP asked about the M&P-15T - one of the "Tactical" versions of the standard M&P-15, which comes with a railed handguard and thus has rail mounted sights front and rear. According to S&W.com, it also has Magpul Polymer MBUS's, while older versions came with Troy's.

Ah, that makes sense, an older Sport. I had forgotten about the older version with different sights. Similar to the ones on the 15-22 I think, the UTG's, which are metal.

Actually the S&W site says
Front Sight: Folding MagpulŪ (MBUS)
Rear Sight: Folding MagpulŪ (MBUS)
So I guess I will wait to open the box to see which model came with the rifle it will assume the polymer.
The reason for my question was having read that the front site in polymer takes a beating from the gas block heat. Anyone want to comment?

Yep, should be the standard polymer magpul folders. The gas block/polymer issue refers to mounting a polymer sight directly on the gas block, ie like the M&P Optics Ready...
Since the 15T has the railed handguard the sights will be mounted on the rail, away from the gas block, so no issues.

My 15T was manufactured in November, 2013 and has the polymer (Magpul describes them as "color injection molded") Magpul folding sights.
