Default Scope & fixed FSB question for m&p sport??

I am seriously looking at getting an m&p Sport and want to add a scope. I have never shot an AR15 with a scope, except for an eotech 1x. I am looking at either a leatherwood hi-lux cmr 1-4 or a 3x vortex spitfire prism. I do NOT want to raise the scope up above the rail to clear the fixed front sight base of the Sport. I have seen a respected YouTube video where the owner had to raise the leatherwood scope for this reason. Under what magnification will the fixed FSB be a problem?? And would simply removing the fixed FSB for a flat one be the easiest remedy?? Thanks, Bill

My wife has the Nikon p223 fixed 3x on her Sport. The fsb is not visible through the scope.

Will S&W supply a OR gas block to replace the FSB on a sport? I have thought about doing that myself.

No. Just buy a good gas block from a reputable manufacturer. Be sure to buy a railed gas block whos rails are on the same plane as your upper receiver.

On page 2 of the YHM link that Japes posted are the folding front sight units. If I wasn't going to put a quad rail on a rifle that's what I would get.

I own this very scope. It's a good one and worth every penny. Check it out:

Now, because I didn't like the A2 sight in my scope when it was at 1x, I chopped the sight off. I didn't spend a lot of time in the process and it's ugly, but it's no longer in my scope at any magnification. I haven't missed it one bit.

One day I will change out the gas block, but for now I'll just leave it as is.
