Can the safety selector be moved to the other side or replace with an ambidextrous selector? My preference would be to accommodate my right hand. Anyone have an idea on that?

Maybe the question wasn't clear, is the safety on the MP 15 designed in such a way that it can be moved to the other side of the weapon. Currently there is no safety selector on the right side. If not is there a
selector that I can buy that will allow the weapon to be converted to ambidextrous safety selector.

Some help a little more than " apearently yes" would be appreciated.

The link I put in was so you could see post #5 from boomshakalaka. Looks like he got something from Stag for $15.

Egg on my face...I misunderstood your response. My apologies . The whole "forum" thing is pretty new to me, I still have an 8track in my living room but upgrading to cassette on payday.
I will look at the link.

Not to worry, you'll get the hang of it. And if you want to find it out, you'll most likely find it out here. A really great group on this board.

You cannot just flip the stock safety and flip it around. You can buy an ambi-selector and operate it right or lefty. Or you can get a LH selector for left handed operation only.

Good luck, now I'm off to the range! :-)

The husband and I are left eye dominate and right hand dominate. As a result we shoot rifles left handed. While I prefer the safety selector on the left side of the rifle, the darling husband, likes it on the right. Putting on an ambi safety selector is one of the 2 changes I made to my M&P AR as soon as I got it. (the other being an ambi mag release).

I think that more has been forgotten here than ever written in the manual . I typically go to the manual first, then maybe the manufacturer web site or midway USA to see what's out there.
I noticed last night that there is no break in procedure for the barrel. I have had guns for over 30 years but don't typically talk guns to this level. Never heard of a break in on a barrel until after I had taken my AR to the range. I'm pretty meticulous about cleaning so that might work out well in the end.

I just watched a YouTube video on replacing the safety selector with ambidextrous . That probably a bit above my comfort level in disassembly of my rifle, I'll let someone do that that knows what they are doing handle it.

Hogwash! I'm sure you can do it. Just remove the grip with a standard Philips screwdriver. The safety retaining spring and pin will come out with it. Cock the hammer. The lever will now just come out the left side. Insert the new part and reassemble the pin, spring and grip.

If I can do it, you can do it.

That's an unexpected " go for it". I may just do it. One of the great things about my guns is their mine. I may just go for it!
I know that I would like to look at trigger portions too, a little less pull would be good.
I guess if I done lose parts I'll be alright.

About the simplest mod you can do on one. Just make sure the hammer is cocked. The selector will not drop through with it dowm
