Man, that's a great price!
They were $599 today at the Macon gun show. Selling like hotcakes too.

As of 9:40pm CST tonight, they have 11 in stock.
That's about as cheap as I've seen them. Bought mine a year ago from GrabaGun for $579 + $5.99 shipping.

It says 11 in stock but once you try to "Add to Cart" they are sold out.

I just bought one on 12/30 for $740, 6 days later is was in the sale ad for $600. I was so pumped to be able to go in and get a price adjustment and buy $140 worth of accessories.... I get in there, and was told that's not their policy to reimburse after a previously purchased item goes on sale, even less than a week after purchase. I was so annoyed... I think that's the only store I know of that wont do that. Uggggghhhhh

Might want to keep an eye on this place. gunbuyer.com. Sport sells for $529 and free shipping. Bought mine there a couple of months ago. Happy with their service. They're out of stock right now but generally for only a couple of days.

That was not a smart business decision on their part. I hope you have a long memory.

Really? I cannot name a store that actually WILL do that.
Unless they had a policy AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE that a buyer could take advantage of a new, lower, sale price within so many days of purchase, why would you think you would be entitled to such?
Without a clearly written policy, it becomes a retailer's nightmare. How long after the sale do they have to give you the new price put in place AFTER your purchase. 48 hours? One week? Two weeks? 30 days? A year?
Would you think you should have to pay the difference between your purchase price and a HIGHER price after the sale if the price went up after your purchase?
And what about the price the dealer paid? Suppose the dealer is sitting on a stock of ARs purchased at $1,000.00 each from the distributor, and now the distributor lowers its price to $900.00 each. Dealers are certainly not entitled to a "refund" from the distributor in that case.
Likewise, the dealer's next shipment of that same model may come in at a lower price, allowing the dealer to pass along the savings on that batch, but not the previous batch.
Gun dealers operate on very close margins on the firearms themselves. I often see guns being offered to the public at prices lower than a dealer can buy from its distributor because the seller is so big it can negotiate its own pricing. Or, in the case of Wal-Mart, they buy direct and are treated like a distributor, which means they can sell for dealer price, make a huge profit, and there is no way the small dealer can buy the same product from its distributor because by the time the dealer pays shipping to have the item sent in, the price is higher than the one in the revolving rack at Wal-Mart.
Sorry, but you are just plain wrong to expect this from the dealer, and the dealer will not miss your business if you "won't forget" (as you state in your later post) this occurrence the next time you want to buy something.
A customer who does not understand that a retail store needs to operate at a profit to stay in business is not a customer who anyone wants to have as the demands such customers make, and the trouble they cause by internet bashing is just not worth the tiny profit made on the one item purchased every so often.

Several big name stores honor sales in a specific time frame after purchase. Some examples that I know do it for a fact would be Walmart, best buy, target... Just to name a few. 30 days is a common time frame. As far as the profit margin... The price is dropping $140 in a few days anyway. It would look great on their part to hook up the couple customers who paid enough attention to notice the price drop (would surely only be a couple). We're talking about Cabelas here... Different expectations than a local mom and pop shop.

Academy did it for me... I bought a Sig 9mm one Saturday afternoon. That same pistol went on sale the next day for $40 less. When I went to the store to ask about it, they asked for my receipt and refunded me the difference. It was very nice of them. I wasn't sure if they would do it, so I didn't expect it. It was enough to buy an extra magazine.

As others have said, very common practice at big box stores. Cabela's is one of the few that won't price match on their firearms in our area as well.

Use Discover card. If you find the same thing for less they will pay you the difference.

Well thank you. I have learned something new. Obviously, the "big box" stores can better afford such. On they other hand, they often buy at distributor price, sell at dealer and can better afford to have that practice.

My uncle turned me on to the forum a while back, and this site is full of good information. Thanks to all for sharing. I have a question that I am sure anyone here can answer. I am looking to purchase my first AR-15 and the S&W M&P 15 Sport looked attractive for a first time purchase in terms of money and reliability. Have you all been pleased with your's, or do any of you guys have a better suggestion for somebody such as myself? Thanks again.

I really don't think you'll be disappointed buying the Sport. This is my first and so far my only AR15. I added Primary Arms red dot sights, H2 Buffer and Wilson Combat trigger. All are great improvements for any AR. Buy it and have fun.

I started my AR-15 enthusiasm with a 15-Sport, and I still have it. I built a budget AR-15 for the experience. Between these two AR-15's, I haven't needed another one.

Excellent price!!
For a range shooter, I do not think the lack of a forward assist or dust cover is a deal breaker.
With the money you would save, get some ammo and range time.

My Sport is my first (and only) AR15. It shoots very well as it is. I'm very happy with it as there's nothing cheap about it.

I love my Sport. If I had to do it all over again it's what I'd buy. I've put a 3-9x scope on it. So far that's all I've done to it. Will likely buy a new trigger for it in the next few months.
If it's only a range gun (i.e. no running around in dirt and sand and water) the dust cover / FA should be a complete non-issue. (If you're looking for utility - as opposed to looks or having an AR like most all others look.) One time out of about 1,500 rounds did it not go BANG when I pulled the trigger - and that was because I was shooting reloads and the primer wasn't fully seated.
It's an awesome gun. S&W really understood their target market on this one IMHO and totally nailed the product definition and price point.

I was just about to post the gunbuyer.com update but Dean beat me to it. Earlier in this post one of you posted the Woodbury Outfitters link as well. Looks like they have 3 in stock for $519.99 but they cant be ordered online. I went ahead and bought one off gunbuyer.com based on feedback from you all, as well as personal reviews posted to youtube. Thanks a bunch guys for the guidance.

I still have one of the first ones that came out. Zero issues or problems. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I just came back from my LGS and they had 12 Sports, only 2 left with Magpul flip up rear sights for $634.
They also had a Bushmaster Superlight ORC with rear flip up sight for $599.99 (Composite lower) no front sight.

I thought I got a good deal for $549.00 two days ago. This was local without shipping cost and FFL cost. I did have to pay 6% sales tax.
Guess it was not a bargain after reading this thread. On the other hand, it will be forgotten in a couple of years.

It was a deal and still would be. No shipping or transfer cost? Even at $500 online, you probably did just as good or better.

Amazing how some of the greatest pricing is on out of stock guns. Like when my parents told me that the were taking me to Disney Land, but now that I did something wrong the trip was off. Every time??!!

Yup, just bought my second Sport to give to a friend of mine who so kindly plowed our parking lot all winter. Good price, way lower than I paid a year and a half ago.
I also couldn't pass up on that Colt AR-15A4 they had on sale either.......I always wanted one Colt.
