Iron sight ques: tactical or tacticool (and waste)
Magpul has come out with backup sights that are made to be angle mounted, offset at 45 degrees. The set runs around $200 for both front and rear.
Currently I would have to remove my scope from my Sport to bring my MBUS sights into play. The Magpul offsets would make it a simple matter of rolling my rifle to the left to bring irons into play.
Tactical or tacticool?

Tactical
It takes some practice, but the 45° offset really works. You'll just have to zero them with the gun rotated which shouldn't be an issue.
I've seen this configuration with red dots and iron sights. At my age, the red dot rules as the rear ring is completely blurry to me on an iron sight. That shouldn't deter you though.
I'm not sure I'd pay $200 for a set. I'd rather go with an offset mount and a red dot like the JPoint or a Trijicon RMR.

Popular with the gaming crowd who may shoot targets from 25 yards out to 300 yards.

Tactical.
I don't have to dismount my scope to use irons? Sweet stuff for sure. I haven't had a need for offset sights yet.

I have a set of off set irons on my S&W. My main sight is a EoTech holographic circle/dot, very fast for up close work and good out to 300 yards. As I do not trust anything with a battery in it I want to be able to quickly access the iron sights.Tactical or tacticool?, I consider them practical.

Why not just use the standard type BUIS?

Also check out Deuck Defense. I think he invented 45 degree sights. Do the Magpuls fold?

I have an optic on my VTAC II and plan on adding the off set iron sights. Like others, I consider it tactical.

I'm not big on magnified optics so I would rather add a 3x magnifier on a quick detach mount

I've found that magnified optics tend to be better than the add on magnifiers. It will boil down to what type of shooting you do more.
If most of my shots are going to be out near 100 yards, then magnified optics are the way to go. If less than that, then the red dot rules for ease of use and speed.
The offset mounted irons work really well when a scope like a Trijicon ACOG is used as the primary sighting device.

For me 300 yards is max and I don't do precision shooting or shooting small furry woodland creatures so I don't require that kind of accuracy. Center mass is fine. Out to 100- 150 I can do red dot, past that I add a 3x magnifier

Precisely why I like the PA 2.5X with the etched CQB AND red dot reticule.
I was a bit hesitant, thinking the reticule would be too "busy", but once using it its not.

There's got to be a million of those flip-flopping magnifiers in parts boxes collecting dust.
The idea of a 1x red dot is unlimited eye relief and field of view. When using the magnifier you don't have that, and when not using the magnifier ya got this stuff in your face. No thanks. Used to see a couple guys with them at the club, rarely if ever see them on ARs anymore.

I assume you mean a co-witnessed BUIS? I have found that seeing the iron sights in the optic sight to be distracting for me and I prefer a clean view through the optical sight. If the battery powered wonder sight goes belly up I just have to rotate the rifle 45 degrees and access the sight. It's a personal thing I guess.
