AIMPOINT PRO MOUNTING QUESTION
Just bought this New PRO and mounted it. I didn't get a chance to get out to the range to zero it yet. With your experience, do you think I should mount this Optic closer towards the Front of the Rail? Or do you think it's fine where I have it? Explain why either way. See Picture. Thanks for all your input.

I have a PRO and T1. The PRO is actually my favorite RDS.
I tried different locations on the upper receiver. Both eyes open. See what works for you.
I ended up as far forward on the upper receiver as I could lock in, careful I didn't bridge over to the rail.

I would move it forward... having it to far to the rear can block peripheral vision and since it is not magnified, it doesn't need to be at the rear of the receiver as you are not concerned with eye relief. I have mine mounted as far forward on the receiver as it can go, and it is in a cantilever mount.

Move it forward. You should have a BUIS on the rifle. My PRO is mounted so it sits over the magwell.

No Aimpoint but I do run a EoTech and a Trijicon Reflex. Both are all the way forward on the upper. I feel the dot is easier to pick up quickly the further from the eye it is.

Don't care for them forward myself, all of mine sit just in front of the rear BUIS with enough clearance so I can flip the sight up.

I'm pretty new to all of this (but not new -- I'm old). I just went thru this exact conundrum with a Strikefire II on my AR. I like it closer to me, but in the end, I mounted it almost at the forward end of the receiver rail. I found I could see it better there and that if it was closer to me I would just close one eye no matter how hard I tried. I fired several mags in several positions before I settled on putting it close to the front.
