Can someone please tell me a good affordable Carbine non polymer handguard for the M&P 15 sport rifle, I will have about $120.00 to spend on a handguard for this rifle here in about a few weeks.
I like using a vertical grip and a bi-pod for bench shooting and lately cannot find anything that will hold up, those screw in style HG's just keep coming loose even the key mod polymer HG's wobble to much for me using a bi-pod or verical grip.
I am tired of purchasing these handguards and they weight a ton or the rails fall off, and get real wobbly or loose.
I am in HG hell here, I cannot find anything comfortable, I like the M4 thin style HG that came on the M&P 15 sport but mine had no heat shields and not sure if you can mount a rail on those.
SO PLEASE, will take all advice on a decent HG for my M&P 15, need something sturdy for bi-pod use and vertical grip use. I do a lot of movement shooting when I practice and the HG needs to stay in place and not move or anything on the HG come loose or fall off.
Thanks for all the replies and also pics of what you are using would be great also.

I like and use the Troy/VTAC free float handguard. I don't have a full pic handy. I'll have to look for one. Its never come loose and I shoot local 3-gun.

Thanks adding to the list, I am also just looking for drop in style handguards only, Thanks.

Seems like any drop-in is going to be as loose as your delta ring dictates.

Have you tried loctite on those things that come loose?

You'll be wanting a free float guard. It is the only way to successfully use it with a bipod and not affect the POI.

Here's mine:

It has a UTG Super Slim Pro free float hand guard. It cost me just over $100 and is rock solid. You can locate the picatinny rails wherever you like so, it's easily customizable. It can be had here: UTG Pro 4/15 Super Slim Free Float Rail - Mid Length - MTU004SS - Primary Arms

I agree with Rastoff that a free float it the best way to go if you want competition accuracy. However, if you are just looking for a quality drop in rail for a battle rifle, my Knights Armament RAS is solid as a rock and top notch quality too.
