I am looking at a single point sling for my M&P 15 Sport 2 and it appears that the loops on are large enough where it should comfortably rest hanging down on its side with a single point sling (or even a multi point sling).

Have others mounted a single point sling, and if so, did you need tactical sling mounts like the Magpul ASAP?

If not what have you done?

Thanks.

I have the Magpul ASAP on my gun. It works great for a single point sling. However, I don't like single point slings for long usage. I prefer the two point slings. They spread the weight out across your back better.

If you are going to get a sling and want to try single point, get one that is convertible from to point to single point but not a dedicated single point sling. The advantages of a single point sling are too limited to go with a dedicated sling. Magpul makes a rather nice convertible sling you might want to consider.

Thanks to both of you. I was looking at the convertible sling and wondering if I needed any special "side mounts" (Magpul ASAP) so it lays to the side and down in front of me. I noticed the loops on the Sport 2 seemed large, like the ASAP and wondered if these would work to sling off the side

I have the Magpul CTR butt stock, which has Quick Disconnect sockets built in. I added a rail mounted QD socket to the front of the rifle. These two work great for a 2 point sling. The sling I have is the Magpul MS4 which has QD connections and will work either one or two point. For one point use I have the Magpul ASAP - QD sling mount on the lower.

Pics are attached, some will be in second post.

Thanks everyone, this was exactly what I was looking for. I was leaning towards the two-point sling but was unsure of the best mounting hardware. Magpul QD socket looks very appealing.

The Magpul ASAP is a rattle trap! Not to mention, it's ugly. There are better options for sure.

I like the BCM single point sling attachment BCMGUNFIGHTER™ QD End Plate. It is simple and if I am using a single point sling which is not very often it works as it should. The rest of the time it is out of the way.

Magpul makes one (which I use) that is very similar, but is slightly angled to make the attachment of the QD swivel easier.
