Looking for bulk ammo at Cabela's or Gander it seems that 62 grain is more plentiful for some reason. I would like to stick with American made ammo if possible. Having only shot 55 grain out of my M & P I am wondering if there will be a difference at 100 yds. I just mounted and sighted in my Vortex Red Dot and don't want to mess with it if I don't have to.

You never know until you shoot your gun. What may be the same on one will be different on another; however, at 100 yds the difference between the two should be negligible. Especially using a red dot.

Yep, agree, the difference between the two at 100yards will be negligible, I would be surprised if you could tell with an unmagnified optic. If you have a Sport with a 1:9 twist barrel some will say 55gr is more suited to that barrel than 62gr, but I'v shot plenty of 62gr out of mine and never noticed an issue (at least out to 100yards).

Try both and see which shoots better out of your gun. Like stated above, 55gr tends to be a better match for your rifle than 62gr but each rifle is different.

Like others have said, each rifle is different. Saying that, I have found 55 grain surplus tends to be more accurate out of my rifles than the 62 grain green tips, and is usually a few bucks cheaper by the case as well.

Try some 62`s to see if you like them. In my Sport there is a difference in POI at 100yds. I like shooting off the bench for accuracy so once I settle into a load , for the most part, I stay with it.
By experimenting you may end up with what works best for you with consideration to buying bulk.

There will be some differences. Also don't worry too much about American vs foreign ammo. Often times they are half and half anyway. For instance IMI (Israeli) uses Sierra match ammo. Both IMI and PPU (Serbia) supply the US military. Germans make some of the best ammo. There is currently surplus German 556 available for sale, I'd stock up on that. Swiss as well. And in the end if it's NATO it will all be very close.

Then some American ammo like Colt 223, which is made in Russia.
