My CA compliant M&P15 sport 2 was assembled at the factory with a commerical diameter buffer tube that is near rifle length (almost 10 inches). I want to switch to a fixed stock so there is less wobbling. I don't think Magpul carbine fixed stock will fit. Has anyone had success with other commercial spec fixed stock? Since this is an economy AR, I don't want to spend more money to buy new buffer tubes (and a $60 wrench to change it out). Thanks

Are you sure that it is commercial spec? I don't know about the California compliant models, but the free state models are all "mil-spec" dimensions.

I measured it with a digital caliper and it is commerical diameter...not mil spec

Sounds like he has one of the "new" Sport II's. Only way to sell any AR out here is for it to be featureless or have a "fixed mag". At least he has a standard mag release.

So installed new Brownells' MIL-spec buffer tube and Magpul fixed carbine stock. Now everything is snug and wobble free. Below is what the weird S&W factory buffer tube looks like.

So they make a special buffer tube for their special CA guns? What a waste of time. Would just be way easier to install a pin the the stock.

It was also pinned from the factory. The lawyers must have gotten involved..
