Mounting Optic on Sport II

Have a M&P 15 Sport II with the flat 1913 rail. Want to mount a red dot optic (Holosun 403R) and wasn’t sure if Loctite blue is needed.

Do folks normally use Loctite when mounting optics? Holosun doesn’t call for it specifically.

FWIW, I use the HS510C 1x Reflex Red Dot. It has a tool-less mounting system on the rail that you lever-down to snap in place. I also had to purchase the 510C "spacer" since I have and desired to keep my iron sights.

RE using "Loktite"... I have often used "Blue" medium strength on bolts on my Harley, however, in your case I would use "Purple" low strength on the mounting bolt... if none at all.

I would sooner say "avoid" using any, PLUS it is way too easy to over-tighten(aka strip) when mounting to the rail anyway.
 
I have at least 4 Holosun HS503's red dot sights mounted on different firearms and none have ever worked loose, just snugging up the mounting screws without Loctite. One consistent complaint I have seen about the Holosun red dots, it's that the crossbolts and the latching plates are not the highest quality metal and if over tightened one or the other is known to strip out or the head of the crossbolt is known to twist off. Using Loctite could just make that potential problem worse when/if you go to remove it. That's not a knock on the Holosun's, it's just something to be aware of and not over tighten the screws and bolts.
 
I'll go against the grain here with a different opinion. Scope mounts, properly mounted and torqued, seldom come loose. Key word here is "seldom". Shoot enough guns long enough, and you will experience something in a mount loosen up.

A dab of blue Loktite on the scope ring and mounting screws hurts nothing provided proper torque is used, and adds added insurance against a mount loosening up. I have used it on maybe thirty - forty scope mounts over the years, and never had an issue, and that includes removing said screws when needed.
