Just got a new m&p 15 sport 2. My rifle is jamming and bending rounds. When I first received it I field stripped it, cleaned it and oiled it, like it says in the manual. It would not feed a round when you first loaded, round gets stuck and bent, its hard to pull it out with charging handle. If it does feed then after firing, next round would get stuck. I loaded like it says in the manual pull the charging handle, press the bolt catch, return charge handle and lock it, set to safe, insert magazine, release bolt catch. This happens with 3 pmag genm2 magazines. The ammo that i am using is PMC x-tac 55 grain FMJ. I have attached pics of bent rounds. I have shot about 90 rounds thru it and this happened with 20 rounds. Any one alse have this issue or know what could be causing this. I have contacted Smith and Wesson and waiting for reply from them if I should send it in for repair.

Whoa I wouldn’t fire any of those bent rounds! It looks like it’s scraping the copper jacket on the bullets themselves. Take the upper receiver off the lower, remove the charging handle and bolt carrier group, and look up into the top receiver group at the barrel extension and feed ramps. Can you see where the bullets are scraping? The feed geometry is off somehow. Those rounds should feed fine from those magazines.

I had a similar issue with an M&P15 some years back on the second round fired from the rifle.

It went back to S&W after the ordeal of getting the round out, and they replaced the bolt which they said was out of spec. (They didn't say anything about changing the entire BCG.)

No such issue after that.

Didnt see anything out of ordinary, added some pics of the bolt and feed ramps

Kind of hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like the right feed ramp might be a little boogered up?

Agreed, I see that too and it would account for the scraping of the bullets and not just the cases. I cropped the pic and circled the area.

Back to S&W with that rifle, the feed ramps are out of spec.
