Default Rear sling attachment question

Hi all. I have a Sport 2 with the std rear stock. I picked up a Magpul Ms1 sling and will just be using the stock mounts for it. No clips or buttons. The front is just the ring and that is fine. My question is what seems to work best on the rear; using the std ring on the bottom of the stock, or weave it thru the slot that is in the middle of the back piece? And if thru that slot is it best for the buckle to be on my right side (I am right handed) or left?
Noting I mainly use (for now anyway) the Sport 2 for range and hobby shooting and some practice. The rear ring is the easiest, just wasn't sure if that can affect how the sling is worn or used.
I have tried watching vids and there are a lot of opinions and suggestions on attachment location and side….. so thought I’d ask the SW group here on it.

Thx as always!

When you use the slot you loop the sling around the TOP of the stock, not around the lower part of the stock like in your picture.

This requires the buckle be on the OUTSIDE, away from your shoulder.

Ahhh that makes sense. As going under (pic was just loose for an example) just seemed off. Thx!

Is there a way to drill a hole toward the top rear to be able to install a quick release sling mount?

I'd simply opt for a aftermarket Stock (~$35) with a QD fitting
and have it look and work nicer than a home remedy.

Thanks. Can you recommend a particular brand/model?

There is absolutely NO need to go with a QD sling socket unless you really need to take off and install your sling quickly.

Most guys want to add so much **** to their rifles they end up over 10 pounds with more money in extras then the base rifle.

I use the over the top of the stock method. Do not put to much after market items on your rifle. I just use a flash light and Red Dot sight.

The best idea is to have only those accessories that are absolutely necessary for the purpose that you intend to use the gun for.
