Default Polishing the slide on a Sigma

I thought about, just for fun, polishing the sides of the slide on my SW40VE. Has anyone tried this, and how did it turn out?

Good thought ab4ka, I've thought about doing that too. I know some have done it. How about some guidelines on getting it done from someone with a bit of experence.

Hey guys, starting with a 600 grit, sand until stock finish has been removed and smooth working in one direction front to back. Follow the 600 with 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, and 3000 grit for almost mirror finish. Use each grit until the scratches from previous grit disappear. Follow it up with Mothers Mag Polish. Your finished product should look similiar to that in my profile picture. Takes about 4 hours.
