Not a fan of Blackhawk products either. Their "magic retention" mag holsters were not what I would consider stress-situation friendly. I switched over to Bianchi mag pouches with the snap button close cover and Safariland 579 Gls Pro-fit Holster for the SD40VE. AMAZING holster. Search for their YouTube video. The retention system they developed is genius. Works as advertised. Give it a try in case you are looking for something on the range where you aren't as concerned about having a thumb break holster.

Default Custom SD9VE

Just got back from getting the slide cerakoted, had the frame bead blasted slightly to reduce the shine. Added Apex trigger kit, 20 lb recoil spring, and extended take down lever. Very happy with it.

Yeah, I know this is an old post.

The current SD pistol is the compact size. The original Sigma F had the 4.5" barrel. The compact version has the 4" barrel. The F was discontinued after the first generation of the sigma I believe and now the 4" is the standard size. Seems they dropped the C off the model number also. The original "compact" has the 14 round 40 mag and 16 round 9mm mag which they still come with. The F models came with the 15 round 40 and 17 round 9mm mag.

Wow. So the Sigma was more like the Glock than I thought. What's funny is that things came around full circle when Glock released the G45. It has almost identical physical measurements as the current SD series, including the front slide serrations and the beveled edges on the muzzle.

Picked this SD9 FDE up Used this afternoon at a Local Pawn Shop
I knew eventually that Post Pandemic there would be New Pistols on the market cheap & Here's the proof $284.99 + Tax = $305
I couldn't buy a Taurus for the cost of this thing & when I say it's New I mean the white magazine followers are clean & there isn't a mark on the pistol anywhere & inside doesn't even appear to have ever been fired outside the factory test.
I went in there looking at a very well used Glock 19X & sitting right next to it was the SD9 FDE marked $299.99 & It was talking to me Hard..
The Owner said He could only knock $15 off & the deal was made after Me asking what it came with = The extra magazine.. I didn't get the box, manual or cable lock..
Here it is waiting for it's 1st Range Trip & after searching my holster box it looks like a Full Size Hk USP Holster is a Perfect Fit
I have a Gould & Goodrich thumb Break Leather Holster
Will Get a Photo of that next trip down to the Dungeon

Two years later, my Cold Weather EDC is still the SW40VE with a Ruger LCP as backup.

I have become a fan of the S&W Sigma series and this all started back in November 2022 with me buying a NIB SW9F made in August of 1994. Yup, one month before the Clinton AWB. That was soon followed by the SD9VE and the SW9VE. The SW9F and SD9VE have a trigger around 8 pounds and the SW9VE had it around 11.5 pounds. But I got it down to 8 pounds with a Mcarbo sear spring.

All three shoot well, their triggers feeling more like DA revolvers. All in all, I like them and they're fine for slinging 9mm slugs at paper on the one-way range. No malfunctions, no misfeeds, no jams. They shoot well and hit what I aim at. For budget blasters, they work.

I found a LNIB Streamlight M4 for my SW9VE. I upgraded it with a now out of production Insight LED upgrade assembly.
