Allied Forces Sigma?
I just put money down on a used Sigma 40VE. It has the blue slide. When I looked it up on S&W's site, the only blue slide model is listed as an "Allied Forces" model.
What is the significance of this model? Anything special about it?
BTW, I did not see the words "Allied Forces" on the gun or the box, should it be marked anywhere, or were there other blued model VE's?
Just curious. Thanks.

Nothing special about it, just the black melonite slide. MSRP is a bit higher, it will not have any diff. markings or have "allied" stamped anywhere. This is the model they sent to our afghanistan friends and USASAC.
Since it is used, could also be a regular pistol and somebody blacked out the slide.

Thanks for the info. It is an Allied Forces model. I didn't know about them being made available to Afghan forces. I'm surprised S&W doesn't try to get more publicity out of that. Or, maybe they do, I just haven't found it yet.
Anyway, Monday is range day-----I can't wait

IIRC, the SW9VE Allied Forces is also the issue sidearms of the Baghdad PD and the Iraqi Border Patrol. I am surprised that S&W didn't at least call it the SW9VE-AF or something to give it some collector value or at least separate it from every other SW9VE. At my local gun dealer a SW9VE is $300 while an Allied Forces model SW9VE is $360. What is interesting to me is that they make a .40 Allied Forces model when I am pretty sure only 9mm handguns went to the desert.
By the way my SW9E (No V) also has a black melonite slide (and barrel).

Well NATO is taking the lead in Afghanistan, and I suppose they don't also call it 9mm NATO for nothing. I'd say ammo price is a consideration too. More .40's for us!
I would have liked to see special markings as well, just to set it apart more and help justify the price difference.

I was in Afghanistan when the Afghan police received their Sigmas. Most Afghans aren't physically strong ad many had trouble with the heavy trigger pull.
