Default SW9VE magazine problems.

Actually, to be fair i'm not sure if it is a problem but more of a question. I can't seem to make the magazine lock into palce when there are 16 rounds in it, thus I can't go 16+1. THe only way to make it lock into place with 16 rounds is to have the slide locked back.

Also seem to have some issues loading 16 rounds into one of themags, which is to kinda be expected sicne they are pretty new.

Am I doing something wrong?

Also, to be fair, when i'm carrying it around that extra round doesn't really matter because 16 is more than enough

I have to slap the butt end of the mag to make it seat with 16 in it. But it does lock and chamber a round when a drag the slide. Pop the mag out and pop another round in and it's good to go with 16+1. May just be a tight mag spring. Load up the mag's and let them set for a few days and see if the spring does not give a bit....

I have never purchased ANYTHING firearm related for about $30 that was more useful than the Upla mag loader. Seriously, the utility of this thing is right up there with the electric toaster or bread slicer.

I unload all my mags periodically just so I can reload them with that thing! Sure beats fighting to get the last couple rounds in for this old man!

I got a great deal on mine... bought it on eBay, the guy had misspelled the name. He had three of them on there, one for the pistols, one for the AR15/M16 and one for the MP5. I got all three of them for $34.00 shipped. Turned around and sold the AR15 one in two minutes on another forum, then listed the MP5 one on Gunbroker and sold it too... $16.00 plus shipping for each of them, so my uplula cost me a grand total of $2.00, cant beat that!

This is a frequent training problem, not a mechanical problem with the gun.
Think about it: when you load on a closed slide, you have to compress the cartridges another 1/2 diameter into the magazine to lock the magazine catch.
Sometimes the magazine does not lock fully and falls out at the first shot. This is highly amusing to see for everybody except the shooter.

It was kinda amusing for me, when I first got it I was sitting down at the table at the range, the gun was about 5 inches off the table and i put the mag in, thought I hit it hard enough. Racked the slide and the mag fell out. I looked around to make sure no one noticed me.

Btw I have had the mag stuffed with 16 rounds for a few days and seems the spring loosened up a bit.

I simply cannot get 16 into any of mine. All 4 are SW 16s, but maybe I just have to break them in more.

Kind of doesn't matter, because I always load 12 at a time when I'm on the range - 4 sets of triple taps, I just like the rhythm. 1-2-3 set. 1-2-3 set. Just a variation of an FTS drill, except they're all center mass.

When I take it to the range I don't load 16 either. I usually put in 10 at a time, makes me feel like I get more out of my time I pay for the range. I broke in the springs on mine and it works like a charm.

Yet another reason why I'm not looking forward to moving back to Connecticut from here in rural Virginia. Now, all I have to do is take a 5 minute ride over to my father-in-law's 20 acres of woodlands to enjoy some quality time. Even though there are no people for miles, I still follow all range safety protocols - I just don't have to worry about the occasional "other" guy/gal who doesn't, and apathetic (or worse) range masters.

Both mags are still tight on me. One more tight than the other. Aurther is setting in on my thumbs so I need to get a loader. But as it is. I start grining and then I'm low or out of ammo. Loader would make it seem more like a trip to the casino.... so I resist with all my might. 16+1 goes fast x 2. lololololol

And for the record I've never had a high cap mag be it pistol or long gun that was not hard to get the last 1 or 2 rounds in. If I can pop the last round in as easy as the first. Time for a new spring IMHO.

Darn it to darn that darn Aruther in the thumbs. I like feeding the rounds and thinking of my last shooting experience.

I live in CO, and there is plenty of open space. Except, it is all snowed in still =\. I like shooting out in the open because I can use aluminum casings as well as bear/wolf ammo. Saves me a ton on ammo costs since I don't reload. The range I go to limits you to double taps, yet they allow people with full autos to go.

I have not yet been able to get 16 rounds into the mag. I can barely get in 15. My fingers are worn out when I do.. Perhaps its my technique. I even tried once at the gun range with one of those devices that force the spring down and neither I nor the range master (who will probably forget more about guns than I'll ever know) could get in the 16th round. So I carry 15+1....since Im an old revolver gun, I feel like I have 2 3/4 guns with me anyway.....By the way I use Powerball 110 grn +P with the polymer tips......but I cant even get range ball ammo in the damn thing either

After cycling my mags (loading them to 15 and firing the mag). I can now get the 16th round in them by hand. It's just a matter the springs loosening up a bit.

first time I got 16 to go was when I was wiggling it around and pushing it down at the same time. I couldn't beleive it actually happened. Then I tried the same technic with the next mag to no avail.

It will come. I also now take appart my mags and clean (no oil).

I never had any trouble getting 16 (9mm) in at all. Same with my XD. But my wife's Glock 19 with 10 round mags is a gold plated B.....

As for getting the magazine to seat. SMACK it you have to. If smacking the magazine is going to damage something I want to know it NOW.

(Sort of like a boat dealer who once told me to "Run it like you stold it from the start. If you're going to blow it up, blow it up under warranty.)
